Road & Street Names

Apparently there are already more streets in the UK named after Nelson Mandela than anywhere else in the world with the exception of South Africa. The first example I've been able to find is somewhat predictably in Brent, North London where a Mandela Close was named in 1981.
It seems that nowadays the name is more often used on new developments where there will be less opposition from existing residents, and accusations that there is a political slant to the use of the name.
It also seems that a body called the Memory Centre likes cities etc to seek permission to use Mandela's name on roads and public buildings. I can only assume that NPT Council has already gone through this process.
