Fairtrade Town Declaration: Thursday 26 February 2009.
You are invited to attend the declaration of Montrose as a Fairtrade Town at 7.30pm on Thursday 26 February in the Fairways Suite of the Links Hotel, Midlinks, Montrose. The meeting is open to anyone interested in supporting fairtrade, but we are anxious to have at least one representative from each of the many retailers, caterers and organisations that have assisted in the campaign to achieve fairtrade status for our town.
The formal launch was in May 2007, and the detailed application was approved in May 2008. To obtain the maximum impact we decided to delay the formal ceremony until Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from Monday 23 February to Sunday 8 March. A new leaflet will be issued at the declaration, and the town fairtrade certificate presented. Both will contain the new Montrose Fairtrade Town logo designed by a local pupil. There will also be an invited guest to speak about fairtrade.
