A. G. M. Notes

News 2023/24 - Main points of the AGM meeting held on 22nd August, with the  League due to start on the 5th Sept.

Members in attendance were agreed that the current committee should continue for our new season.

We welcomed the fact that we have been allowed to revert back to our original trio's format. We will be using 16 lanes with 17/18 being dressed for our use as buffer lanes if the need arises. As we have 18 teams, this will mean 2 byes each week with the exception of weeks 19 and 38 when we shall use all 18 lanes in accordance with the schedule. It was also agreed that this season we would not be bowling on half term weeks or Easter.

Please be aware that this is still a trying and stressful time for the centre staff as the centre are not yet up to full staffing levels. So please have patience if you need to see someone for lane breakdowns or pin reset etc. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE A GO AT ANY MEMBER OF STAFF. This will not be tolerated by the league or the centre in any circumstances. Neither will any abuse of fellow bowlers or supporters be tolerated. If you have a serious gripe, see myself, Steve or Andie and we will try to resolve the issue.

BUT

The league will remain a cash league and all monies will be awarded as points money for the season with the exception of the usual expenses for secretary/treasurer, charity, stationary and the Min Tulley trophy which will be awarded to the Most Improved Player. There will also be the usual cash awards for High Game and Series in both scratch and handicap catorgories (team, male, female). Also a sum will be set aside toward the Memorial Tournament at the end of the season.

Hollywood fees have increased to £10.50 a set. Therefore, it was agreed to increase our fees to £15 for the coming season. Handicaps are to be held at 75% of average to 210. The  League will be a contract league which means we have to pay for all players whether they bowl or not.  Subs will be liable for no more than £10.00, if the subbed bowler doesn't pay for the entire weekly fee, and the said bowler would then be liable for the remaining £5.00.

Practice rates have been set at £3.50 per game and must be booked with the centre. Times for this practice will be Mon-Thurs all day and up to 5pm on Friday. There will be no special rate at the weekend

There will be no bowling on the 26th December or 2nd January. Also during half term weeks and Easter as per the schedule.

At the end of the season, there will be the Memorial Tournie. It may well be subsidised a little for League bowlers and registered subs but this will be dependent on funds available to make this a worthwhile entry but will cost no more than a normal week League rate.  More on this at a date nearer the end of the season.

After a disussion, it was agreed that handicaps be carried forward for the first 3 weeks / 9games as per normal and new bowlers to calculate handicaps from week 1 and  will be held  for the first 3 weeks / 9 games,  then recalculated weekly as per normal.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me to clarify.

We now also have a second website which is mobile friendly and also have our own Facebook page. All bowlers have been given the details of these, but if anyone has a problem getting in or sorting, then please see Andie Burt as your first port of call.

Regards Brian (on and behalf of the Committee)
