I’m enjoying listening to the current BBC Radio 4 series ‘The Life Scientific’ and several of the programmes strike accord with many of our discussions about knowledge creation and research in which personal values are an essential part, sometimes the starting point for research.  I am thinking particularly of the interview with Sir Michael Marmot in which he describes how his concern with social justice stimulated his research into the epidemiology of cardiac disease and how social class is a significant marker to developing the condition.
