About M.A.D

I have owned dogs for 21 years (as an adult) and dogs, throughout my childhood were always present.  I am  based in East Sutherland Scotland.  My fees are very reasonable and available on request.  All initial consultations are free.

In the last 20 years I have owned 9 dogs, all different breeds, all different ages and all different temperaments.  They only thing that they have all had in common is that they have been either rehomed or rescued.

Three years ago I co-founded a dog training group,  but took the decision to leave in October 2014 and set up alone. Previous to joining the group I completed the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour course run by Jenni Watson http://www.dogtraining-online.co.uk and am currently working to KCAi accreditiation  http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/training/kcai/what-is-kcai/ and I am part way through an Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management and have almost completed an Animal Assisted Therapy Practitioners course.

I love learning about behaviour and how dogs interact and behave and love applying that with my own dogs, all of which you can read about in the Meet the Dogs section.

The world of dogs and dog training is always changing and I think for the better.  We are moving away from making the dog we choose to live with fear us, away from harmful punishments to get the dog cowering to our bidding, but to live together in harmony for the many happy years that we have with them using positive reinforcment and praise.

I am an insured dog trainer and also insured to walk up to 6 dogs at a time, I have also completed the Rhodes2Safety Emergency Canine First Aid http://www.rhodes-2-safety.co.uk/ I often use 3 of my own dogs as stooge dogs (during 1:1 training) for those dogs  that can be reactive as they have seen and heard it all before.  I choose not to use 1 of the 4 as he can be reactive but with the time and patience and consistency now afforded to him he is far better, more secure and as a result more confident.

I enjoy meeting up and walking with people and their dogs as a way of socialisation.  All walks are undertaken with care and are always lots of fun.  These walks are normally 2 or more hours.

I volunteer for the charity Pets As Therapy http://www.petsastherapy.org/ with our young Collie Bess.
