As I have said we will be trying to raise some money for the Arthritis Research Campaign.

Below is a brief description on what they actually do!

The Arthritis Research Campaign (arc), founded in 1936, raises funds to promote medical research into the cause, treatment and cure of arthritic conditions; to educate medical students, doctors and allied healthcare professionals about arthritis; and provide information to the general public.

arc is the fourth largest medical research charity in the UK and the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to investigating arthritis in all its forms. Millions of pounds are provided every year for grants funding research, education and training.

How we're funded

We receive no government or statutory funding and are therefore totally dependent on voluntary donations. We raise funds from a variety of sources including the corporate sector and grant-making trusts. Fundraising in the community is organised through a combination of voluntary fundraising branches, paid staff and charity shops. A valuable contribution is made by individuals who undertake sponsored events on our behalf, and all those who make significant donations in support of our work.

Any event from the biggest to the smallest, from the London Marathon to a car boot sale or from a Himalayan trek to an open garden - each and every one raises vital funds for arc and is immensely important to us.

Our press office is happy to assist with media enquiries about arthritis, and can provide information, case studies and experts on request for national and regional media. If you wish to contact our press officer please email info@arc.org.uk and mark for the attention of the press office, or telephone 01246 558033. For out of hours media queries call 07974 203828.
