So WHY does a group of thirty somethings(well most of us anyway) suddenly decide to cycle the length of Britain? Is it an early mid life crisis? Is it to prove something to ourselves? Or is it that we see this as a great challenge and if successful a great achievement? If I'm honest it's probably all three (well maybe not the mid life crisis)! Don't know about the others though!

August this year I came across a website documenting one mans every move in the run up to his attempt at Lands End to John O Groats aka LEJOG. After looking at some other attempts some successful some not I got to thinking that this would be a massive personal achievement and great adventure. One month later and the planning stage is in full swing. No way back now!

At the moment we are currently planning all aspects of the trip from vehicle support to accommodation, which route to take and how long to take to complete it and more importantly getting a team together.Team members are now confirmed as Darren (Brother in Law) and Sean. These guys are all good cyclists who have been keen to do this for some time.Donald has kindly agreed to drive the support vehicle over the ten day period.

We are combining the cycle with hopefully raising some money for the Arthritis Research UK (formerly Arthritis Research Campaign) www.arc.org.uk which is particularly close to home as I suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis. This has certainly had an impact in my life over the past 15 years and although you do have some good days, as arthritis sufferers know only too well when its bad it can make something as simple as putting your socks on a chore, so for me to complete this would be a massive achievement.
