QUEEN'S AWARDS

Phil Kelsall        Len_Rawle

During the year 2010 there were two awards from H M Queen for keyboard-organ players.    These were given in the Queen's Birthday Honours, announced on 12th June 2010, and the New Year's Honours List for 2011, announced on 31st  December 2010.

Looking ahead.....
Awards for Birthday Honours 2011

As you will see below, it is too late to submit recommendations for 2011.   But hopefully this information may be useful for the future.   It would be nice to think that awards will be regularly given to a deserving player or someone from the organ-keyboard UK scene who has gone that one mile further in their service to the public.

Guide Information

Extract from the H.M.Gov. website:-

His Excellency the Governor Mr Duncan Taylor invites members of the public to submit nominations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours 2011.

Nominations must be received by Friday 15 October 2010.  Final recommendations for OBEs and MBEs are considered in the United Kingdom.  Recommendations for the Certificate and Badge of Honour are considered locally.

It is stressed that for any Award, long service is not enough.  Nominations must be supported by a persuasive account of the outstanding or innovative or self-sacrificing services and achievements of the nominee, whether paid or unpaid, in one field or several, and what has raised them above those of others performing similar services.

More about the award process is given on the UK Gov. website:- Details
