LOCAL SPONSORS HELP RETAIN NAIRN'S SUMMER COLOUR
22 June 2017

Following further cuts to Highland Council’s gardening services budget Keeping Nairnshire Colourful has worked with local businesses, groups and volunteers to sustain this summer’s floral displays in the town.

Nairn Old Parish Church members, supervised by Jim Docherty, agreed to continue to look after the three raised brick beds opposite the church and Millbank Primary pupils helped to plant them up.

Rosebank Primary’s Eco group helped with the summer bedding in the Museum beds.

Greens have also continued to sponsor the St Ninian’s Road bed, which they have just replanted.

The Council have given up maintaining three more of the town’s main beds but agreed to supply the plants. These have new sponsors: The Club House are sponsoring the Seabank Road bed and have created a very decorative display there.

Brambles is sponsoring the Rosebank bed, which was planted up by KNC and volunteers.

Nairn Road Runners have chosen an orange and black theme to mirror their strip for their bed at the Fire Station.

Annie Stewart, Chair of KNC, said “This has been a great Community effort and we are grateful to all those who are sponsoring the beds and will be working over the summer to keep them looking good. We also appreciate the co-operation of the local Council team. If any other local groups or businesses would like to help, they can get in touch by emailing knc@gmx.com”
