Tree Planting at Achareidh
06 October 2025

Working with AMEY, KNC has helped plant nine new trees in the grass verge along the A96 at Achariedh.

BEAR had removed several mature trees from this area as they had been planted too close to the houses that back on to the grass, and some of the roots had got into residents' drains. BEAR then replaced these with some new trees, but sadly planted them during the summer & did not return to water them. As a result they all died.

When AMEY took over from BEAR last year, KNC contacted them to ask if the dead trees could be removed and during the discussions AMEY agreed to replace them. Seven of the trees are ornamental cherries and the two on either side of the Rotary floral bed are lovely Amelanchiers.

Greens Nursery supplied the trees which went in just before storm AMEY struck. Thankfully they had all been well heeled in and staked, so have survived and should offer lovely spring blossom in the coming years.
