Publicity Power!
04 October 2007

It is pleasing to see that Adur District Coucil have been forced to make a statement regards the selling off of older people's accomedation (see story on the scroll below this one). They say it was a misunderstanding, caused by a briefing report to a committee. Oh, so for once the attempt to slip something through as a briefing report has come unstuck, has it.

May this happen many more times. Although we will need to keep on top of things even more so if ADC goes ahead with it's change to the undemocratic system of  cabinet. They will abolish committee, and with them will go the democratic right of the voting public to know what is going on at every stage. Why anyone is suprised is beyond me, as any democracy left in the Adur District is only there by chance.

If you live in the UK, don't forget that you need to be registered to vote, and this is the time of the year when the register is updated. It is no good waiting until polling day, as so many do, and turning up at the polling station just to be turned away. Your vote is your property. It is the sign that you have rights. Maybe who you vote for does not get elected, but failing to vote means you have had no say at all.

The choice is yours, but apathy will lead to less democracy, and it will too late to complain when you are in the grips of nanny state to the extent that you are under observation 24/7, cannot make a phone call or send an e-mail without it being kept on record, and lose your right to privacy. Oh! Sorry, we are there already!
