IRON CAGE PRISON PENPALS

We offer a penpal service that is completely free to prisoners and those wishing to write to them. All details are as supplied by the prisoners and have not been verified by us.

We do not ask prisoners to submit any forms - all we require is an ordinary letter from them, giving their basic details such as date of birth, race and release date, along with some basic information about their interests. No details of convictions are ever requested. If you want to check this, you should go to the relevant State Inmate Locator.

Before deciding to befriend a prisoner, please read our Guidelines For Writing To Prisoners.

Although we do not condone crime, we believe that everyone has the right to human friendship and moral support, irrespective of what they may or may not have done. We offer the same service to condemned prisoners too, because Death Row prisoners are human beings as well.

We ask that you do not disrespect our prisoners by soliciting them, sending mass mailings, or including anything in your correspondence that may be classed as contraband and thereby get them into trouble.

PLEASE NOTE - Personal ad's that contain bad language or requests for money will not be published. All requests are screened by us and we reserve the right to refuse anything we feel may be offensive to our readers. We also reserve the right to remove ad's at our discrection, although we would not do this without a good reason.

In the same way that we ask you to treat the prisoners with respect, we expect the same from them.

Should you receive a request for money, or anything else you find offensive, from a prisoner you have written to through our pages, please let us know so we can remove them from our site.
