This afternoon we started digging the trench, first of all we had to clear it, which meant we had to take out all the moss. We were looking for changes in the earth pattern, and changes on the section which was already there. The trench is just over 16m long, and it's 1m wide. We went and worked on another trench. We were clearing out a section of it which was getting rather crumbly. Then we measured the depth and length of that section. Then we were recording the stones and slopes of the main trench, and drawing it on a chart. We also took photos using a photo pole, and we had to experiment a lot with it.
