Thank you to everyone!

"It's the freshest thing in the Highlands for ages." Argyll News

We had the world's smallest physics lecture, and the world's smallest audience. There were 2 minutes of quantum theory, and 2 minutes of relativity. See the pictures, watch the videos!

We had events from Applecross to Achiltibuie (and from Cromarty to Kingussie and at Acharacle and Strontian as well.

And we closed with a lecture by lantern light in the ruins of Fortrose Cathedral.

the world's shortest lecture
The Festival opener... setting off from Patagonia...

We watched planetary nebulae and multiple stars, found out about the shaping of the Cairngorms, and decided whether whisky is an art or a science.

We learned about the gardens of the East and the wizard Michael Scot, ancient astronomy and modern medical lasers, exploding stars and whitewater rafting in Patagonia.

Plus The Physics of the Hula Hoop and The Mathematics of Why I Don't Have a Boyfriend.

Thank you to everyone across the whole region for making the second Highland Science Festival such a success.

We enjoyed ourselves very much, and we hope you did too!

Chòrd e rinn cho mòr gun fheumadh sinn cainnt an òrain is na bàrdachd gus a chur an cèill. Thriall sinn air feadh na Gàidhealtachd, o na beanntan san àird a dheas gu lochan na h-àirde an iar – agus thadhail sinn air coimhearsnachdan agus sgoiltean air feadh na dùthcha.

We make comets... and sometimes they get away...

We enjoyed ourselves doing it so much that we didn't really worry about the money. So it's just as well that some of the funding agencies rallied round to help us. A very big thank-you to the Scottish Government's Science and Society programme who always keep the Highlands and Islands in mind. To the Highland 2007 Legacy Fund for keeping up the sparkle in our eyes. And to the British Science Association (formerly the BA) for believing in us as well.

And to all the many individuals, communities, societies and organisations who helped so much to make it possible warmest thanks! We couldn't even have begun to think about it without you.
