The World Camp at Foxlease 1924
. . . through the house. Everywhere one met cheery faces and a friendly "Hello".
During the day the visitors dispersed mainly to the Conference in the Barn, or to visit friends in Camp. At night they joined in the great Camp fires, or were invited by friends to smaller gatherings in the various Group Camps. The week flew by and when July 23rd came round, the business of getting the right people off by the right trains was tackled.The final impression of the week from the House's point of view was a gallant attempt to see that luggage, trains, destinations and hospitality elsewhere were all satisfactorily arranged.
Then after the last visitors had departed the House pulled itself together and soon all was straight once more ; it was difficult to believe the World Camp had really happened, all seemed so calm and settled.
Yet there was a difference. Foxlease can never be quite the same again: it had really been the home of all the World and it had . . .
