About Fair Trade
What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is a partnership between producers and consumers that ensures a decent wage for the producer, good working conditions and a fair price. Fair Trade principles include:
- Paying fair prices to producers that reflect the true cost of production.
- Supporting producer organisations in their social development projects.
- Promoting equality of pay and working conditions to improve the traditional low position of women in society.
- Advising on product development to increase access to markets.
- Encouraging environmental responsibility.
- Committing to long-term relationships for stability and security.
