About Us

Objects

The Association shall exist for the Care, Upkeep and Maintenance of Burns Memorials in the Area of, Angus, Kincardine and Aberdeen ( Tayside and Grampian Regions) and shall include in the first instance, the Gravestones in Glenbervie Churchyard, the Cairn at Clochnahill, the engraved glass panel on loan from Capt. Adam and presently displayed in the Arbroath Public Library, the tablet affixed to the Boar's Head Hotel (formerly the Gardenston Arms Hotel), Laurencekirk, the Memorial at the old well at Hillside and the two frames containing information on display in the latter Boar's Head Hotel.  Also any other artefacts relating to the poet and his family which may from time to time come to light.

Constitution

The Association shall consist of Members nominated by Burns Clubs and other interested organisations in the area already referred to, Each Club will have the right to nominate two and not more than three members. The Association will have the right to invite nominations from other bodies and shall include a representative from the Trustees of the late William Coull Anderson of Arbroath.

General

The affairs of the Association will be discussed by the Association as a whole but they will reserve the right to set up any committee where necessary with powers to carry out the duties delegated to it.

The Association will nominate as officials a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer.

Five members will act as a quorum at any meeting of the Association.

On the question of voting, each member present will have a deliberate vote, and in the event of equality the Chairman or in his absence, the Vice Chairman pro tem, shall have a casting vote.

The Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held in May, when officials will be nominated to manage the affairs of the Association for the ensuing twelve months. Other meetings may be called as and when necessary.

Notwithstanding the Meetings already referred to, the officials will have the right to deal with any urgent or outstanding business.

The above Constitution was adopted at a meeting of the Association held in the Boar's Head, Laurencekirk in May 1983.
