2011 HPT 3 Inverness Report

 

 

 
Day 2 starts High Noon 
 
Blinds are now 10,000 /20,000
 
Much of the same with raises and no takers for a few hands.
It was Paul and Gareth again that provided the action
when after Gareth's big blind Paul raised to 45,000
and Gareth called.
Flop went 2 3 A both players checked.
turn was 7 again both checked,
river was Q and Gareth bet 67,500 and Paul called.
Paul showed K 9
Gareth showed A 9 to take the pot with A A.
 
And yet again plenty raises but no takers.
 
Then it was Paul and Gareth again 
Gareth bet 80,000 and Paul called,
Flop was J 9 2 turn 6 and river Q ,
Paul bet 100,000 and Gareth called
Paul showed A 8 but Gareth got the upper hand with Q 7
giving him a pair of Q's and a massive pot.
 
Very quiet for a few hands until
after the blinds were met Celio went all in for 115,000
Gareth called. Celio shows 5 5 and the banker shows 8 8.
Cards come down J 9 Q 2 6 giving a massive pot to Gareth
and Celio finishing in 4th place.
 
3 players left.
 
After the blinds in place Bob raised to 40,000 and Gareth called.
flop was 7 2 K Bob bet 40,000 and Gareth called.
turn card was 6 Gareth bet 80,000
Bob went all-in for 155,000 after much thought
Gareth called and the river was 6 giving Gareth 2 pair 2's and 6's
but Bob had K's and 6's winning this huge pot.
 
Paul then went all in and Gareth made the call
Paul showed 8 5 and Gareth showed J 9
the cards hit the table 8 7 9 9 4 giving Paul 2 pair 8's and 9's
Gareth had 3 of a kind 9's
A nice pot and Paul finishes HPT 3 in 3rd place.

A few steady hands and no mega shocks
this was going to be cracker of a game.
 
To start with Gareth called Bobs big blind
and as luck would have it Bob hit on the river
to give him a pair of 5's and also the pot.
 
A few hands down the line then BOOM
the Hand of the tournament.
Gareth s/b calls and Bob checks flop comes 2 8 7
Turn comes a 7 
Gareth bets 40,000 ,Bob calls turn card comes down
Bob bets 80,000, Gareth raises to160,000,
Bob calls  river produces 7
Bob bets 100,000 and Gareth raises to 200,000.
After a bit of thought Bob calls.
Bob shows 8 9 giving him a full house 7's full of 8's
but Gareth shows 6 7 to give him quad 7's.
MASSIVE POT FOR A MASSIVE HAND.
 
Blinds are now 12,500/25,000
 
Bob now goes all-in for 100,000 and gets a call from Gareth
Bob shows K 5 and Gareth shows J 10
flop is 4 8 A
turn is A river is Q.
Bob fights on having pair of A's with K kicker.
 
Bob then doubles up with 2 pair J's and 8's
Gareth does not show.
 
Some game of poker eh? amazing.
 
4 hands down the line with no action Gareth raises 
to 60,000 and Bob folded,
and the next hand went much the same with
Bob raising to 50,000 and getting a call from Gareth.
the flop went 3 2 4 and Gareth raised yet again
to 150,000 but this time Bob folded .
 
Next hand Bob and Gareth both checked down to the river
cards on the table were 3 Q 3 6 7 .
Gareth bet 30,000 and Bob re-raised to 120,000 ,
this produced a call from Gareth
 Bob showed his cards 3 4 giving him  3 of a kind 3's
Gareth did not show.
 
Once again we had b/b raises and no takers for a few hands.
Next we had Bob on small blind calling and Gareth checked
flop came 9 5 8 Bob bets 50,000 as does Gareth
turn 2 both checked,
river 8 both checked.
both had 2 pair 5's and 8's
but Gareth had an A kicker to take the pot.
 
Next hand Gareth called the b/b 
flop came 9 Q 4 Gareth raised to 150,000
then Bob went all-in getting a call from Gareth.
Turn card 7 river J
Bob shows A Q
Gareth had the upper hand K K to win the tournament.

with Bob Urqhuart runner up
