HPT 5 GRAND FINAL
CHIEFTAIN HOTEL INVERNESS
3RD - 4TH DECEMBER 2011
There was a total of 87 players with 5 lady
players. 11 tables were starting.
The early raffle by Helen (the best barmaid
in the Chieftain) says Monkie.
It was won by Scotty Gair. He gets a seat
into an HPT of his choice.
Tournament starts 1.00 with the blinds at
100/200
The first 1/2 hr passed with everyone playing it
cool, trying to suss out all the players.
Celio was involved in this hand against Paul.
He bet all-in with K K and Paul called with A A.
Celio lived on by hitting a K on the river.Lucky
man.
The hand of the day went to Farqhuar Macrae,
he hit a Royall Flush of clubs.
Nice pot building up on table 5 with
Wildefish hitting trip 4's but John wins the day
with a straight 8 high.
First man to fall was K Bain
Another nice pot this time Robert against
Gareth, Robert bet 1,800 with pocket 8's
and Gareth called with A 9.
The cards went 6 9 7 and Gareth went all-in
for 5,300 the turn card was 6 and the river a 9
giving Gareth a full house.
!/2 hour to go in this session and only 1
player out.
Willie Gunn was next for a nice pot with
a full house on the flop of A's full of 9's.
Now on to level 3 with the blinds now at
200/300
Scotty Gair was next out to Darren Kennedy
Then Michael Spring was next to go to
Martin MacKenzie
Wildefish went all-in after the flop for
3,200 but got no takers.
20 mins of level 3 and down to 74 players.
Alan Mcintyre took a nice pot from John Russell.
First lady to leave the tournament was Caroline
Stuart to Ron MacKenzie.
Blinds are now 400/800
Wildefish went all-in for 13,000 this time getting
a call from Karl Paterson. Robert shows K 6 while
Karl shows 7 A the cards fell 7 3 5 5 10 giving
Karl 2 pair and eliminating Wildefish.
Three out in a row at different tables next, Bill
Watt, Ali Mag and Adrian Gray.
Karl hit a nice pot again as well as knocking out
Colin MacLoon Mackenzie who showed K K but
Karl hit an Ace on the river for Top Pair.
Pre-flop Alan McIntyre went all in with K A
getting a call from Karl with K K .Alan doubles up
hitting an A on the flop for a nice pot.
Paul(busted aces) was next to leave thanks to
Dozy.
Now down to 8 tables.
10 mins left of session 4 and 60 players remaning.
Tam won a nice sized pot against Bobby with a nice
straight 9 high.
Frazer(tatties) was next to go out to Nathan
Session 5 Blinds now 500/1000 with 54 players
remaining on 7 tables.
Calum was out next losing to Kevo. Kevo hit an Ace
for top pair against Calums 6's.
Iain MacKinnon was next out to Adis.
Celio versus Darren Kennedy flop 4 K 9 both
players check turn 8 Darren goes all-in
After a long hard think Celio decided to fold.
Darren was more than happy with a sizeable pot.
Scotty was next to lose out to a pair of A's
against Stewart who hit an A on the flop against
Scotty's pocket 5's.
Raymond went all in after hitting trip 10's but lost out
to James Mitchell who hit a straight on the river.
Bob won a nice pot against Tam. He had pocket A's
against Tams Q's. Bob hit a full house with a flop of
A K K
20 mins remain of this level.
Donald Fletcher was next to leave against Graham who's
A J beat Donalds A K with a J coming on the flop.
Now we are down to 6 tables with 47 players.
Level 6 blinds are now 1000/2000
Robbie eliminated Willie MacKenzie at this point leaving 46
players.
Ritchie Love bets all-in with A 4 and Dozy calls after a long
think with 2 2 The flop comes 9 4 4 turn A and river 3
giving Ritchie a nice double up with a full house.
Next all-in was Bruce Batman with A 8 and Gary Blackwood
called with A 10. Batman hit an 8 on the turn to double up.
Yvonne was next out to Steve O'Hara .Babe showed A-9
against Steve's 5 7. Steve hit a 5 to send Babe out the
competition.
Michael George was the next eliminator sending Nathan
out the tournament.
Batman and Michael MacKendrick were up against
one another with both showing A K to make it a split
pot.
Susie with J K ,Tam with A Q were both put out by
Adis with A 10 hitting an A and A 10 on the board.
Ron MacKenzie bets 6,000 with A A and Charlie
re-raises to 30,000 with Q Q then Ron goes all-in for 20,000
more and Charlie calls. The cards hit the table.....
K Q 7 10 Q giving Charlie Quads and putting Ron
out of the game. Nice Hand Charlie.
Colin Campbell was next out after Mark hit a 6 for
a pair against Colins K 10.
30 mins left of this level and now down to 5 tables
and 39 players.
Robert Wood was next to go to Adis who had Q's
against Roberts 10's
Dozy hit a full house on the river against Craig who
was next to go.
Gareth put Stevie out next hitting 2 pair against
Stevies K 10.
Paul was next to double up against Gareth showing
Q Q to Gareths A 8 Cards went J 3 J 4 7 .
After a 20 min break 34 players start and the
blinds are 1,500/3,000
Kevin was first to go in this session against
Martin who showed pocket K 's
Then Darren knocked Ray out, who lost a lot
of chips to Chelsea earlier.Darren hit 2 pair Q K
while Ray had A J
We are now down to 4 tables and 32 players.
Mark hits a nice double up against Steve hitting
a 9 on the flop to give hum 3 of a kind.
Bear with a small stack doubled up against Gary
as his A K stood up to Gary's Q K
Charlie was next to leave going out to James
Mitchell.Charlie went all-in with 9 9 and James
shows K K and hit another on the river.
Darren gets a treble up against Adis and James.
flop is 4 4 2 turn is 6 and river 3
James shows A & and Adis folded and Darren
shows 6 2 to give him 2 pair.
Pete raised the bet to 12,500 only for Mitch to
bet all-in for 37,000. after a deal of thought Pete
calls showing A K and Mitch has A 3. Neither
player hit and Mitch left in 31st place.
1/2 hour of level 7 left along with 30 players.
After a few slowish hands darren Kennedy hits a nice pot
and we are down to 28 players.Only 4 to go
for Day 1.
Next Gary goes all-in with A 4 and gets a call
from Adis with K J. The flop comes 5 8 K turn 10
and river Q. Adis hits pair K's putting Gary out
in 28th place.
5 mins left of level 7 and 27 players left.
Level 8 Blinds are now 3,000/6,000
Jamie goes all-in for 35,000 and gets a call from
Graham. Jamie shows 6 6 and Graham shows
A K .Flop goes K 5 3-2-8 giving Graham top pair
K's eliminating Jamie in 27th place.
Gareth gets a huge double up as his 6 6 stood up
against James's A Q .
David Munro went out in 26th place to the Bomb who
hit 2 pair 2's and 5's
Now we are hand to hand till we lose one more player.
Pre flop Paul Adams goes all-in for 33,100 and gets
a call from Martin MacKendrick, Paul shows Q 7 while
Martin shows K Q and he hits a K on the flop and Paul
finishes in 25th place.
Now we go to day 2 with 24 players.
DAY 2 24 PLAYERS LEVEL 7 BLINDS 1,500/3,000
Pete Black went out in 24th place to Gareth after
going all in for 23,500 with K Q. Gareth shows K 3
and hit a 3 for a pair.
A nice double up for Karl against Darren as his pocket
J;s stood up against A J .
Bear goes all-in for 52,000 with pocket 9's and
James calls with A A cards read Q Q 3 4 6 meaning
Bear goes out in 23rd place.
Stewart Hudson raised the blind to 9,000 with A 9
Karl called with J J after the flop Stewart called all-in
and was called again by Karl whose Jacks held up and
Stewart goes out in 22nd place.
After a lull in the game with a few all-ins and no takers
the Blinds go up to 3,000/6,000
Darren then leaves the game thanks to a 2 pair
hit by Karl. Q Q and 8 8
Next out was Alan to James whose A J stood up
against K J
Then Celio went out to the Bomb in 18th place after the
Bomb hit a 10 on the river to give him a pair.
Willie Gunn then hits a nice double up with 2 pair against
Gareth.
Karl claimed another scalp in Chelsea as his pocket
A's stood up against her K 7. Chelsea leaves the tournament
as last lady in 17th place.
30 mins into level 8 and we are down to 2 tables.
Karl is on a roll taking out John in 16th place
with A Q hitting a Q on the river.
Michael was next to go in 15th place as Willie won
a substantial pot with Q Q and A kicker.
Again we have a few all-ins with no takers
Bob goes all-in with 57,000 and gets a call
from Bomb. Bob shows A A and Bomb shows
A Q. Bomb hits a club flush to knock Bob out in
14th place.
Then Gareth was next to leave after his A Q was
not quite good enough to beat Adis and his A K as
the table read 7 5 10 J J .Gareth finishes in 13th place.
We are now on a 20 min break .
Level 9 with Blinds now 4,000/8,000
After a few games of cagey play Graham goes all-in with
Q Q and Martin calls with K K. The cards come 6 K 6 2 6
giving Martin a full house and Graham leaves in 12th place
Mark then took a nice pot after hitting quad A's on the flop.
Then Mark was knocked out by Willie in 11th place.
Willie took the pot with 2 pair A J against Marks K Q.
Blinds are now at 4,000/8,000 and 10 players
Slow action for the next hour, nothing drastic happening
and we still have 10 players
Now at level 10 blinds are 5,000/10,000
Batman goes all-in for 37,500 with 9 2 and gets a call
from James with A J with the cards going 3 8 10 5 10
James wins and Batman finishes in 10th place.
With 9 players left we are now hand to hand till final table.
After a few more all-ins and no takers James raises to 25,000
with A J and gets called by Bomb who has J J after the flop
of 3 K 3 James raises to 60,000 and Bomb folds. A nice pot
for James.
Willie Gunn goes all-in for 75,000 and gets a call from
Dozy. Willie shows K Q and Dozy shows 7 7. The cards
show A 8 6 2 9 meaning the 7's stand and Willie goes out
in 9th place.

After the blinds Karl raises to 30,000 with
Robert going all in for 132,000. With everyone
folding its a nice pot for Robert.
Again after the blinds James goes all-in for
30,000, Adis folds and Andy calls. James shows
J J and Andy shows 7 7. With the cards showing
7 2 5 - 5 - 2 Andy wins and James finishes in 8th place.
Again we have a few all-ins with no takers and the
Blinds have gone up to 6,000/12,000
After blinds and pre-flop Robert raises to 34,500,
Martin raises to 76,000, Robert goes all-in
152,000 and Martin calls. Robert shows A J and
Martin shows 10 10. As the table reads 6 2 5 -6-6
Martin wins with a full house and Robert leaves the
game in 7th place.
A few more cautious games as they try to
suss one another out and not much action. Then
Adis raises to 42,500 ,Richie calls and Karl calls
Flop is 7 4 Q Richie goes all-in , Adis folds and
Karl calls Ritchie shows 7 7 and Karl shows 10 3
Turn 10 and river 3 With 4 diamonds on the
table Karl wins with a flush.
After more all-ins and no takers we have a
3 way game
Pre flop Richie flat calls Karl calls and Andy calls
Flop is 5 3 K Andy raises to 100,000 Karl calls
turn is 6 Karl goes all-in and Andy calls and shows
K 3 and Karl shows A 4 and river is a 6 So Andy wins
the pot with 2 pair and Karl finishes in 6th place
Blinds are now 7,500/15,000
Another few high raises and no takers then
Martin takes a very nice pot of130,000 against Andy
Very cautious play now not much action for a few games
then Dozy goes all-in for 56,000 and gets a call from
Adis,who shows K 10. Dozy shows K 3 and the flop is
A 7 A -A -Q giving a split pot.
Pre-flop Dozy goes all-in for 59,000 with A 7 and
Andy calls with A 10 Flop 3 3 2 turn Q and river 10
giving Andy 2 pair 10's and 3's. Dozy leaves in 5th place.
With 4 players left they are all being very cagey.
The Blinds are now 10,000/20,000
Nice pot for Adis against Martin who bet 40,000
after the flop and Adis called Flop is K J 7 turn was
4 and river was A. Martin shows J 6 but Adis wins the pot
with pocket 4,s giving him 3 of a kind.
Another few cagey games as no-one was prepared to
push it.
Then the Bomb went all-in for 127,500 and gets a call from
Richie. Bomb shows A 2 hearts and Richie shows 5 5
Flop is 2 diamonds 10 hearts 6 hearts turn is 3 spades
and river is 3 hearts to give the Bomb a flush to take
the pot.
Richie lands a huge pot against Adis and Andy who both
no showed while Richie showed a pair of 9's.
Then we had 8 games with all-ins and no takers.
Then Richie took another nice pot against Martin
who folded after Richie raised to 50,000 after
the river.
Blinds now at 12,500/25,000
Andy bets all-in for 125,000 and Martin calls
Andy shows K 10 and Martin shows A 6 the flop
is 6 A K turn 3 and river 9 giving Martin 2 pair A's
and 6's. Andy finished the tournament in 4th place.
Richie took a fair amount off Martin who folded
after Richie raised to 100,000 and showed K 10
Flop was A Q 6 turn K river K giving Martin 3 of a kind.
Pre flop Adis raised to 62,500 and Martin called. Flop
is 8 7 K both players checked turn 2 Martin bets 40,000,
Adis goes all-in for 157,500 and Martin calls. Adis shows
A 6 and Martin shows K J and after hitting a J on the
river Martin wins with 2 pair and Adis leaves the
table in 3rd place.
HPT2011 HEADS UP
MARTIN MacKENDRICK V RICHIE LOVE
Again we have 2 cautious players neither wanting
to make a move yet. Then a nice pot of 180,000
went to Martin with a pair of 8's and Richie did
not show.
Next was 5 games with Martin going all-in and
Richie folding.
Preflop Martin raises to 50,000 and Richie calls
flop is J 4 8 Martin bets 50,000 ,Richie raises to
100,000 ,Martin calls turn is Q richie bets 100,000
Martin goes all-in but this proved to be too much for
Richie and he folded leaving Martin with a very
nice pot.
After the blinds the flop came 5 A 6 both players
checked. turn 3 Martin bet 50,000 and Richie called
River was 10 ,Ritchie checked and Martin bet 100,000
and Richie folded and it was a no show from Martin.
Next 2 smallish pots went to Richie as Martin folded.
After the next blinds Martin raises to 95,000 and Richie
calls Flop is 10 J 10 Richie checked Martin raised to 250,000
and gets a call from Richie turn is A and Martin goes all-in
for 617,500 and again gets a call from Richie,Martin shows
K 7 and Richie shows J 8 with the river being a 5 this means
that Richie wins with 2 pair J's and 10's.
