Fortrose Union ended the season with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to local rivals Avoch in the Highland Amateur Cup final yesterday. A big crowd in Dingwall saw both teams create numerous scoring chances in an exciting match that could have gone either way. Avoch were reduced to ten men with 20 minutes to go and it seemed that Fortrose were set up for victory but it wasn't to be. Avoch played well from that point on and took the lead through Alan Moir in the 78th minute. Fortrose pressed and pressed and three great opportunites were passed up in the final minutes but it was Avoch who scored again in the last minute to seal their win. Fortrose can be proud of the way they applied themselves and of the season in general which has been one of the best for many a year. The banter(pictured) was still tremendous at the Tavern and the boys never let their heads go down for a minute. Roll on next year!
