Davy MacIver turned in a tremendous performance in his return to the first team in last night's 2-2 draw with Golspie. An even match was played out in a good spirit with both teams looking to sharpen their match fitness in this friendly tie. He scored both goals and played with an air of authority and assurance that everyone agrees has been missing from the Fortrose team of late. His first goal came on 50 minutes as he volleyed home superbly from 18 yards after Davy Douglas had struck the crossbar. His second came on 72 minutes, after he latched onto a Kevin Keith through ball, beat two men and fired into the bottom corner past a helpless goalkeeper. The Golspie number 9 twice equalised MacIvers' goals and was perhaps the only player on the field keeping up with MacIver. Golspie had the bulk posession but it was Fortrose who had all the chances and they really should have won the game but nonetheless it was a good exercise for the side ahead of some important matches next week.
