Over the last 2 months I have noticed an increase in poor judged comments in the trout returns column. 

These are mainly about the current problem we are suffering regarding Argulus (fish lice) 

I spend a considerable amount of time with trout ticket purchasers explaining what an Argulus infestation does to trout stock in a lake.  Also explain the life cycle of these parasites.  

I also give customers the option to either fish or not fish. 

I then read comments column and find that having explained earlier to an angler how it is etc,  they have made comments such as "fish diseased",  no fish feeding,  no signs of fish,  and finally "needs restocking". 

The above is simply not the case.  

May I suggest anglers please do some research online and visit the EA website and search the document on :-

Argulus in trout fisheries.  There is some interesting reading on the problem from expert fisheries scientists. 

Hopefully this will give anglers an insight into how the problem occurs and how it is dealt with. 

 

In the meantime I as always is willing to talk to anglers on strategies we have in place to try and control the problem.
