Today saw a landmark for the fishery, with the first ever stocking of British bred Wels catfish into the specimen pool.

The fish were sourced from Martyn Simmonds from Homerfield fish farm in Suffolk.
12 cats in total were put in , the largest weighed 41lb 14oz then 32lb 14oz , 26lb 13oz , 21lb 13oz, 19lb 9oz , 18lb 13oz , 17lb 5oz , 15lb 5oz , 13lb 14oz , 13lb , 12lb 11oz and 11lb 7oz .

The fish were bigger than we expected due to achieving good growth last year, and estimates figure that they could gain 8lb a year.

With so many silver fish to feed on in the lake this could be possible.

The resident carp should gain weight also, due to less competition from the silver fish.
