The repair is carried out by mail, so you post the fob to me, ensuring that it is well packed. It is recommended that you use a tracked delivery service (ie Recorded or special) as items of mail do occasionally get lost by Royal Mail. On the day it arrives, I will repair the fob as detailed below. It is for the ELECTRONIC repair ONLY, and does not include replacing casings, rubbers etc. The cost of return shipping is included in the price.

1. The switches will be replaced with new ones.
2. The circuit board will be cleaned to remove any build up of residue which can cause problems if left.
3. The battery will be replaced (or a new battery included if yours is ok)
4. The remaining components on the circuit board will be visually inspected, and replaced as required.
5. The fob will be tested, to ensure all functions are working.

The fob will be returned to you via Royal Mail Recorded 1st class, either the same day, or next working day.

These fobs work by a carbon pad on the inside of the rubber pressing on the contacts on the circuit board. after a while, these carbon pads wear out, and no-longer make contact. I have researched extensively, and have been unable to find a source for replacement rubbers. This led me to come up with an alternative way of repairing these fobs.


1. The circuit board is modified slightly, to allow me to solder in switches in place of the carbon pad/contact arrangement. Using the switches I have specifically sourced gives a much more reliable service.

This service is for the replacement of the rechargeable battery in the Landrover Freelander 2 keyfob as shown in the picture.

These fobs recharge whilst the key is in the ignition using "inductive charging".
This removes the necessity to change the battery, unfortunately after a while the battery gradually stops holding a charge.

When this happens, Landrover Main dealers will advise you that the fob is not repairable, and they will quote you a ridiculous price to replace it.

This, in essence is true. These are a sealed unit and "not designed" to be repaired. This doesn't mean that they can't be repaired.

I will carefully open the fob, replace the rechargeable battery and re-assemble the fob so that it functions as it should.

The batteries I use for this service are high quality branded batteries (Panasonic) which are of equal or better quality as the original.
Because these fobs are not designed to be opened, this service may leave some very small signs that the case has been opened. These are not usually noticeable.

If for any reason your fob cannot be repaired, it will be returned to you (in the same condition in which it arrived), and you will receive a refund of the cost of the repair, minus the cost of returning it to you via recorded delivery.
