NO CAMPING on the TRIAL FIELD

Please note the width restrictions, and advice below if you are towing a caravan. (Strictly no camping on the Trial field - see accomodation section for details of where to stay)

From the North: From the A1 take the A61 to Thirsk then the A170 to Helmsley. Before Helmsley turn right onto the B1257 and follow the brown signs for Castle Howard, and then the yellow event signs for the National Sheepdog Trial.  If you are towing a caravan please follow the signs for the route to avoid Sutton Bank - these are clearly marked.

From the South: Take the A1M to Junction 45 and follow the A64 east to York. Continue past York and eventually you will pick up the brown signs for Castle Howard. And then the yellow event signs for the National Sheepdog Trial.  Please be aware of height & width restrictions at the Gate House.
If your vehicle is over 3.43m H x 2.60m W (8’ 6” wide x 11’ 3” high) please access the trial site via Malton and Coneysthorpe.  A brown sign to Castle Howard will direct you from Malton town centre along Castle Howard Drive.
