Applied Photonics: We use the principles of birefringent light to examine the stress distribution characteretics in engineering and biological structures.

Digital Particle Image Velocimetry (DPIV) and High-speed Videography: We use these techniques to understand the fundamental flow behaviour of granular materials.

Thermography: We use temperature measurements to characterise the strength of materials.

In our research group, we also use other standard and advanced expeimental techniques such as AFM, CPM, SEM, TEM, Particle size analysers, compaction and shear cells.
