PNE Wind (Kennoxhead windfarm application)

PNE WIND UK SUBMITS KENNOXHEAD WIND FARM PLANS (PRESS RELEASE)

Edinburgh based, renewable energy developer, PNE WIND UK, has now submitted its planning application to Scottish Ministers for the Kennoxhead Wind Farm, situated south of Glespin.

The final proposal is for 26 wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 126.5m and an installed capacity of approximately 60MW.

At the Community Liaison Group (CLG) meetings held in Douglas and Glespin the PNE Wind Team regularly meet with local representatives to receive feedback and share information.

Local CLG Members have negotiated a community benefit valued at £5,000 per installed megawatt.   This means that the Kennoxhead Wind Farm could generate £300,000 every year for local projects – more than £7.5million over the 25 year lifetime of the wind farm.

In December PNE WIND commissioned a telephone survey of local households which was completed by nearly 200 residents.  The results revealed that 70% supported the Kennoxhead wind farm proposal; 60% wanted the community benefit fund spent on employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities and an overwhelming 88% wanted the funds controlled by the Trust made up of local people.  PNE WIND will agree the establishment of the local fund with members of the Community Liaison Group.
