DOUGLASDALE PLAYERS

Dear Member,

 

It’s hardly stopped raining since we last met, (I said the same in 2010 and 2011 ) but I’m sure you’re looking forward to Winter, only because it’s PANTO SEASON again. Karen McMillan, assisted by several experienced writers/comedians  has the task of preparing show 34.  The show will be based on an adaptation of a popular film based in the Jungle with lots of animals. There might be some romance, some violence and lots of drama in the traditional DDP  fashion and of course great music. Apologies to Rudyard Kipling who was born in Mumbai  --  another wee clue??????
We return to the amazing St Brides Centre for rehearsals. If you’ve not visited yet, I’m sure you’ll be impressed

Rehearsals start:                     

Sunday 28th October at 6.30pm – 9.00pm in St Brides Centre
Rehearsals continue until:       Sunday 2nd December2012 in St Brides.

Rehearsals re-commence:        Sunday 6th January 2013 in St. Brides Centre
Then      ---------------------------

Sunday 13th Jan---10th March  in Douglas Primary School

Dress Rehearsal:

Sunday 10th March from 12.30pm in Douglas Primary School

FIRE IN THE GLEN—7    
We are not proposing a formal night out due to a very busy October /November. We may have a small informal burning, with Robert’s permission, and a small soiree, probably in the rain, to mark the occasion. Fires will be lit about 7.30pm. BBQ’s available

This will be on Saturday 3rd November at Glentaggart. Make your own arrangements for transport , food and drink !  Any bonfire material? --  contact Derek.

Andrew Nolan is taking time out and Margaret Bannatyne is not prompting this year, Bryan Gemmell is off on walkabout in Oz and Jim Struthers is taking a romantic break. .Jane  Muirhead returns as prompter and Tom Kirkland is back on stage where he belongs. New kids on the block are Lucy Tomlin, Karis Clarkson, Ellie Smith, Sophie Tweedie and we welcome Eddie and Jacquie  Bertram from Glespin  .Meet them all on 28th.

 

Watch out for “Stars in Your Eyes” on 7th and 8th December !!
