Dornoch Model Flying Club

The Dornoch Model Flying Club welcomes applications for membership from all age groups.

The Club was formed in 2010 with the initial aim of introducing young people of Dornoch (and surrounding districts) to aeronautics via the designing, building and flying of model aircraft.  The club now has a Full Members section available to the wider community of all ages while still retaining its Youth Group.

The club is affiliated (Ref:  2748 & 2804) to the British Model Flying Association (www.bmfa.org) who provide Insurance, advice, and the club is run in accordance with their rules, guidelines and safety codes.

The club has received financial support from Highland Council and Dornoch Community Council to assist with the establishment of the club and more recently the Creich C.C has  awarded the club's Youth Group with a grant from the Beinn Tharsuinn fund to purchase tools and equipment.

CLUB ACTIVITIES:
Building:

The club uses the craft room facilities of the Academy and together with its  building equipment members design and build model aircraft.
Flying:
The club uses the Sports Field at the Academy and the Dornoch Airstrip and
In-door flying is conducted on club nights (Monday evenings) at the Academy.
Flight Training:
Flight training is offered to members using their own models via a 'buddy' transmitter system. The club also has training aircraft (In-door and Out-door) available if needed.
The club encourages all members to achieve flying competence to at least BMFA's  Achievement level 'A'.
