The chairman and members of the Parish Council were shocked and saddened on Saturday to hear the news of the untimely death of Councillor Anita Lower, Newcastle City Councillor.
Anita was one of the three Councillors for Castle Ward representing our area and so was a very regular attendee of the monthly Parish Council meetings where she could be relied on using her vast knowledge of the city and her expertise to help resolve and find solutions to problems and issues that arose in the village from time to time.
During her tenure as Councillor Anita was also instrumental in helping Dinnington acquire facilities for the community that they might not otherwise have done. Good examples of these are the M.U.G.A games area in the recreation field along with the play equipment for the children. She was also of great help and support when funding was being raised to refurbish the village community buildings and could always be relied on to turn up to lend her support to events being held in the village.
Anita was a good friend of Dinnington, we will miss her knowledge, expertise, and her warmth and friendship, our thoughts at this sad time are with her husband Philip and their family and we wish to offer them our sincere condolences on their loss.
