Test & Inspection

Raymond Denman specialises in test and inspection and has a excellent reputation within the industry in this area. He normally works with Peter Fernside of PJF electrical on larger testing projects. Peter Fernside also lectures in test and inspection and is well known and highly respected in this field.

All non-domestic electrical installations should be subject to a regular programme of testing and inspection to comply with current legislation. You must ensure that all necessary precautions are being taken to reduce the risk of injury or death through electrical failure.

Maximum periods allowed between Periodic condition Inspections:

Commercial Installations - 5 years.
Industrial Installations - 3 years.
Buildings open to the public - 1 year.
External Installations - 3 years.
Caravan Parks - 1 year.
Fire Alarms - 1 year.
Short Term Installations - 3 months.
Site Installations - 3 months.

Don't get fobbed off by the cowboys, you cannot carry out a full Periodic Condition Inspection report in 2 or 3 hours and pay £75 for it.

To carry out an inspection properly takes a lot of time and above average knowledge of electrical systems, remember we are coming in to your property blind, to inspect a system that could be potentially dangerous, expect to pay around £25 per circuit this is for a full inspection and test (not just a quick look around and a couple of tests) remember it’s your safety to consider, so its either £75 for someone who doesn't have the know-how or £25 per circuit for the job to be completed properly. Remember it is your employees and your safety involved here so have the job done properly by the experts.

We will also advise employeers on their responsibilities under the Electricity at Work Regulations and the relevent H & S Legistlation.

As well as covering all aspects of commercial testing, we also cover Landlords safety checks to enable Landlords to stay within the Law and full fill their “Duty of Care” as required by the Landlord – Tenant Act, this is a rapidly growing area with more Landlords becoming aware of their Legal responsibilities.

We can also provide condition reports for Solicitors, Mortgage Companies, Purchasers, and Estate Agents prior to property sales.
