1950's
The 1950's was the accumulation of two world wars, greater prosperity, Hollywood, trade links and good old fashioned fun! Society breathed a huge sigh of relief and set about enjoying itself - something that is reflected in the fashion of the decade. Skirts got fuller (as did the idealised figure) busts and hips became more prominent, waists got smaller, colours got brighter and now, there was something for everyone. All tastes were catered for and it was far more acceptable for trousers to be worn as an every day item. The divide between working class fashion and upper class haute couture lessened as designers explored the mass markets, a concept brought about by WW2.
