1940's
The 1940's was a decade of contrast, rationing during the war years brought in 'utility clothing' although the government was loath to remove all traces of femininity and felt it was important for public morale to keep women looking like women, while the end of rationing and access to new materials and production methods saw an increase in 'movie star' styles and fashion becoming more accessible to the masses.
Tailored 1940's dressThis dress has been produced in a heavy linen in order to show the clever tailoring that goes into the design. It is not available in linen and has a lovely drape when made up in a softer fabric. The side zip has been replaced with a back zip for ease of use. | Tailored 1940's dressThere is lots of clever detail around the bust too. | | | | |
