ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE
An Energy Performance Certificate (ECP) is required by law when a property is constructed, sold or put up for rent. Once the property has an ECP it is valid for 3 years.
The ECP gives home owners, tenants and buyers information on the energy efficiency of the property. It gives the building a standard energy and carbon emission grading from A to G where ʻAʼ is the most efficient.
The current average is ʻDʼ.
The report suggests ways of improving your position, by proposing both cost effective improvements and higher cost possibilities, which will take longer to attain a financial return.
All house sellers must provide an ECP free of charge for potential buyers and all Landlords must make an ECP available to any prospective tenants.
