Our centre will aim to:
1. Provide a safe, stimulating, happy and well-resourced environment for all the children depending on their age and stage of ability and provide a broad range of appropriate experiences for children through play activities
2. To help and care for all children in their playgroup life using the ‘My World Triangle’, identifying the outcome for children in relation to the following aspects: Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected & responsible, and Included
3. Staff must be aware of and use principles within the document For Highland’s Children 3
3. Deliver balanced educational experiences in line with our curriculum policy, as well as national and local advice, following the Early Level of the Curriculum for Excellence:
• Health and Wellbeing
• Literacy and English
• Numeracy and Mathematics
• Technologies
• Sciences
• Social Studies
• Religious and Moral Education
• Expressive Arts
And also provide opportunities for the children take part in activities within in the wider community including overseas
5. Meet the National Care Standards (Early Education and Childcare, up to the age of 16)
6. Regularly evaluate provision in line with the national document “The Child at the Centre 2”
7. Ensure staff are fully trained with qualifications that are in accordance with the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) and attend regular training course, which are identified in annual staff appraisals and record all training with their own personal CPD file.
8. Ensure a comprehensive list of policies is referred daily and updated when new guidelines are published. Staff must ensure that they refer to policies and read through annually.
9. Offer parents/carers opportunities to become involved in their child’s pre-school learning and development through the use of 'My Learning Journey' and 'All about me' sheets. Further develop this by delivering leaflets to enable parents to become more involved and aware of the activities of the centre
10. Provide parents/carers with regular information about their child’s progress and development
