Bramham Res 4 Hampsthwaite 2
15 February 2009

This Spa cup quarter final tie was switched to Bramham due to a frozen pitch on the Stray.

There had been a heavy frost at Freely Lane but the ground had soften considerably as the teams kicked off and it was Bramham who made the early breakthrough. Sam Wild picked up the ball 20 yards out and fired a curling shot into the top corner of the visitors net on 15 minutes.

A static Bramham defence appealing for offside allowed the visitors to get on level terms 10 minutes later and Hampsthwaite were ahead on the half hour mark following another raid down the right.

The heavy pitch was taking its toll and passing became difficult in the midfield area as the teams trouped off at half time.

Bramham were a much more committed outfit from the start of the second half and Danny Jacklyn broke the offside, ran on and finished clinically to put the sides level on the hour.

The homeside were now having the better of this mudbath and Nick Jacklyn chased down a long ball which stuck on the surface and fired Bramham ahead on 75 minutes.

Jimmy Hurrell ended his lean spell tappping in from close range in the closing minutes to see Bramham safely into the semi final
