With the 1st X1 entertainng Kipax at home Bramham switched this fixture to Tadcaster Magnets as they prepaed to defend the Activ 8 cup they won last May, with a first round tie against local rivals Boston Spartans.

The opponents carried the name of Boston Spartans, but it was Spartans not as we know it, as their side was packed with imports from Barwick and as such the match never took on the mantle of a true Bramham v Boston clash.

Despite strong words before kick off, Bramham were dozing as Spartans swept into a two goal lead within the first 5 minutes with some woeful defending and when they went 3 up after 20 minutes the match was all but over or so it seemed.

So many times over recent season this second string  have shown an amazing resilience to claw themselves back into matches from impossible positions and they did it again with Lloyd thundering in from 12 yards to give them a lifeline befoe the break.

Hurrell was on the scoresheet in the second half and eventually Bramham levelled to take the game into extra time.

Spartans went on to win the tie in a penalty shoot out but it was Bramham who should have had this game wrapped up much earlier with chance after chance being squandered,opportunities that came back to haunt them, meaning their brave fightback was in vain
