Reserves undone in Penalty shootout
26 October 2008

Shoot out despair for Reserves

Dave Jacklyns depleted troops were once again on the road as they travelled to division two outfit Burley Trojans for this medal competition tie.

This week selection was easy with just 11 players reporting fit, it was merely a matter of positional changes with Neil Apps shifting to left back and Josh Jones coming in at right back.

The absence of Jummy Hurrell was a telling factor as Bramham failed to make much impression on the Burley defence until they eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark.

It was Dave Easby who collected the ball just in side the Burley half, skipped past the full back and calmly fired home for a piece of high quality finishing totally out of context with anything either side had produced to that point.

Bramham looked to have wrapped thing up but 3 minutes from time a low cross from the right hit the Burley striker on the arm 3 yards out. He tapped the ball home and to everyones suprise the referee gave the goal .

Extra time was a torrid affair with neither team coming to terms with the bumpy conditions underfoot and the swirling wind and inevitably the game went to penalties.

The home keeper made 3 outstanding saves, which would have graced any ground in the land to dump Bramham out of this competition. Rough justice for a severley understrength team who had battled hard all afternoon
