Bramham Reserves 2 Ripon Red Arrows 0

Bramham maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought win over a solid Ripon team.

Bramham were able to welcome back John Carrier and John Reynolds along with captain Lindsay Hulme and had the better of the opening stages. As the half progressed Ripon came more into the game and were posing some problems for the home defence with a series of well taken corners.

Ironically it was from one of these corners that Easby broke away down the right flank, found Hurrell who composed himself before slotting home from 12 yards out in the 23rd minute.

Nevertheless Bramham were happy to go in ahead at the interval as Ripon increasingly threatened to get back on level terms.

The second half started in the same fashion that the first half had ended with Ripon pushing for the equaliser but Bramham defended well, with Carrier and Reynolds looking assured at the heart of the defence. It was all hands to the pump as Ripon continued to surge forward, with Nick Jackyln revelling in his new role at left back ending numerous raids down the flank.

Lockhart was outstanding in the Bramham goal with two superb saves from close range and looked a commanding figure all afternoon

Bramham sent on Farthing for Easby who had another good game despite carrying a strain and he made an immediate impact with some solid tackles as he provided further protection for the Bramham defence.

The home side had settled for a 1 -0 victory and Mick Sanderson came of the bench as further intent of the homesides desire to close out the game. but in the dying seconds they grabbed a second when the tireless Jones ran down a ball on the keeper and slotted home into an empty net.

A hard fought victory for Bramham against good opponents
