Match Reports 2nd X1

Bramham Reserves 1 Thirsk 0

Another hard fought game between these two clubs saw a narrow win for the home side. There was little to choose between the sides all afternoon, but Bramham had the lions share of the openings. Jason Wright settled the issue on the hour, cutting into the penalty area, before beating the keeper on the near post with a low drive, for a quality finish. Good all round performances for Bramham with Farthing once again looking assured in the heart of the defence, accompanied by the impressive Ewen.

Bramham Reserves 2 Brafferton Rangers 2

Rob Lockhart took over in goal  and there was a return for Jimmy Hurrell to partner Jones up front with namesake Josh Jones coming in for his first game of the season at left back

Brafferton had the better of the early exchanges but it was Bramham who took the lead on 7 minutes thanks to a twice taken penalty coverted by Robson after the referee had adjudged Hurrell to have been held  in the area.

There was little to choose between the teams and Brafferton were deservedly level on 15 minutes, with their striker latching on to a ball down the middle which wrong footed the Bramham defence.

It was a similar mistake that lead to Bramham going in at the interval with a narow lead when Nick Jacklyn capitalised on a long punt from keeper Lockhart, nipping in between the defence and visiting keeper before calmly slotting the ball home.

Brafferton were the better side in the second half as Bramham tired and they grabbed an qualiser 15 minutes from time. They could have gone on to win the match in the dying minutes, shooting over from close range on the counter attack.

A draw was a fair reflection of the match for two teams which are likley to be contesting the promotion places at the end of the season.

Bramham Res 5 Pateley Bridge 4

With the 1st X1 heavily depleted for their journey to table topping Thirsk, Dave Jacklyn was left with the bear bones of a side for the 2nd X1's opening home game of the season.

Jacklyn took the keepers jersey and Bramham trooped onto the field with 8 men for the start of the fixture. Pateley have never had the best of recent trips to Bramham, but they rolled their sleeeves up with glee at the prospect of turning the ramshackled Bramham out fit over on this occassions.

Bramham had a clear policy of making life as awkward as possible and never looked like rolling over. Pateley superior numbers eventuall told and they took the lead on 15 minutes with a 30 yard strike whistling passed Jacklyn.

Two late arrivals boosted the Bramham numbers and  although still a man down their superior quality began to tell, with two quick goals on 30 and 34 minutes  rocked the visitors and a 4th before the  break, left them bewildered as to how they could be so far behind in this game.

A fifth goal early after the restart seemed to sew the game up but Patelet rallied with two of their own and a 3 rd on the stroke of time gave the result some respectability.

To a man there were outstanding performances throughout the Bramham ranks and whilst it is probaly wrong to single out individuals, Hulme was a colossus at the back and Robbo simply oozed class in the midfield alongside the tireless Farthing, well on the way back to the form we all know he is capable of.

An astonishing and outstanding perfomance the lads should be proud of
