2008 - Optimism and Opportunity!!

Our Junior girls team are looking forward optimistically to the new year following a superb 5-1 away win against Scotton Scorchers. Its really encouraging to see how they are coming along and we hope to get some more fixtures in place for the Junior boys team in the coming months so we can further progress with our youngsters.

On the 1ST X1 front there is also room for optimism with some encouraging performances and a belief that we can retain our position in the Premier League. At the start of the season we were confident that the 2nd X1 would be challenging for honours and that has proved to be the case as they are amongst the front runners in division 3

Getting our Sunday team off the ground has presented its challenges but it has also brought some new faces to the club and whilst mid table it is clear that on their day the team is capable of turning over anyone in their division and we are hoping for a good cup run and the opportunity to put some silverwear on the shelf in our first season.

Off the field we are keen to support the Sports and Leisure Group in progressing  the much needed development of the new clubhouse and facilities on the playing field. A vital ingredient in the clubs progress.

Have a great 2008!

DECEMBER 2007

As we look forward to the festive season, its a good time to reflect on a year that has seen its highs and lows for the football club.

The 1st X1 clinched promotion to the Harrogate and District Premier league for the first time in 20 years and just 3 years after reforming. What a phenomenal achievement that was.The 2007/8 campaign has been a massive reality check however, with the team now bottom of that league and fighting for survival. But the lads are up for  a relegation dog fight and if they can rekindle the battling spirit of Bramham teams of old, then there will be little to fear and we will have our foothold in the Premier League on which to build in future seasons.

The 2nd X1 have built on their sucesses and continue to go from strength to strength, and look like being real challengers for the 3rd Division title, moreover some of that squad are looking very comfortable when drafted into the senior side.

The u13 girls have just got their season underway with encouraging signs.

Open age Sunday soccer has made a return to the village, and whilst currently mid table, we know that when we can get our first choice team out we are a match for anyone. With so many clubs unable to field a Sunday team and several having folded  we are proud to be able to buck the trend.

The year then has been a roller coaster, no more so than off the field where we have had relentless pressure from the Harrogate League to improve our changing facilities. Many thanks to the members of the Parish Council for their support throughout the year. We continue to be under the microscope and let us hope that 2008 will bring good news in respect of the development of  a new pavillion.

Many thanks to all those who support us either at our matches or through following our results, in the paper or on our website.

Best wishes for the festive season from all at Bramham Football Club
OCTOBER 2007
After taking all before them during the last 3 seasons, Bramham are finding that life in the Premier League is a whole new ball game! Having lost 5 of their 6 opening games and with just 3 points on the board it is clear that survival and consolidation is the target for this year.

Travelling to Bradford to play under floodlights at Eccleshill United, shows just how far the little village team have come, but playing against several semi proffesionals on the night, showed clearly what Bramham are up against this season. Despite a 6-3 defeat, Bramham showed great charachter and were rightly proud of a respectable performance.

Manager Wright will need to draw on all his years of experience, through what looks to be a long hard winter ahead, particularly with the loss of two key players from last season, although this has provided the opportunity for some emerging  young players to  pull on the Bramham shirt, and they learn as each game goes by.

The second team have made a solid start to the season unbeaten, and challenging at the top of the league and they look to be genuine title contenders.

It has been good to see the return of Sunday Open age football to Bramham after an absence of many years and the team have made a steady start, winning 2 and losing one of their opening 3 games.

The opening weeks of the season have then provided their challenges, with mixed fortunes for our teams and plenty of entertainment for those on the touchline. Next month I hope to report on a winning start for our U13 girls team who kick off their season shortly. Come on girls!!!!
