Another day & another win.A pretty easy one it has to be said.Playing with a strong wind behind them in the 1st half the team had to make it count, which they did with ease. After a corner from Roberts was headed on by Maltby,Tasker was on hand to apply the finish. The 2nd goal was another corner from Roberts, but this time it went straight in.Wave after wave of attacks were raised on the Pannal goal, but if anything the wind was a hinderance to the teams passing game.Just befor half time the tireless Nicholls put in a great cross/cum shot which was deflected into his own net by the unfortunate Taylor. The 2nd half in theory would be hard playing into the wind, but with the passing game now in full swing the team dominated even more.A bad 1st touch by Nicholls resulted in a suberb 2nd touch with a great lob over the goalie.Coe was then crudely upended in the box by Ratcliffe, but Kitchen's poor penalty clipped the post & went wide.Taylor then got his 2nd own goal of the day, this time a fine diving header past Thompson in the Pannal goal.Pannal did have the last word when a Kitchen made amends for his penalty miss with a free header from a Coe corner.Three welcome points with some hard games now coming up

The team kept up their promotion push with a 4-2 win over fellow promotion chasers Hampsthwaite.A poor start was compounded when Bell fouled C.Maltby & put the ball in the net,the team waited for the refs whistle but it never came!!The ref was very poor all day,he only does games for Hampsthwaite so make your own mind up on that.Being a goal down sparked the team into life & the returning Bowden levelled matters nearly straight away. The rest of the half was more even, but no more goals followed.Into the 2nd half & the team started to get on top, half chances being created & missed.Hurrell then put the team in front when he scuffed/flucked a cross into a top corner finish!!!Instead of going on from this poor marking @ the back left substitute Gordon a 1/2 chance which he finished with a great lob over Ratcliffe. The home team then sat back & invited the away team onto them. The breakthrough didn't come untill a corner was only cleared to C.Maltby & his close range volley gave the team a very late lead.Bowden added his 2nd with the last touch of the game.Difficult conditions, average team performance, outstanding debut from Fisher & 3 welcome points

Pateley Bridge Res 2 − 4 Bramham Reserves

A very, very poor 1st half saw the team trail 2-0 @ halftime. After a stern halftime team talk the team came out & totally blitzed the 'badgers' for the next 20mins.Hurrell scored from the first attack of the half, this was followed with the equaliser by Nicholls soon after.A great save by Maltby then kept the scores level,& on the next attack Hurrell added his second. Then Rich Craven 'just' managed to clear a shot before it went over the line!!!!Maltby then hit Nicholls with a long clearance, who showed great control;squared the ball for Roberts to hammer home the fourth goal. The game then opened up with chances @ both ends, but the score remained 4-2.The promotion push continues

Bramham RES 2-4 Wetherby Athletic RES

The opening 20mins was all Wetherby & they took a lead when a tame shot deceived Ratcliffe in the home goal. After this the team raised their game & a header from Nicholls brought the scores level.5mins later a corner from Reynolds was headed in by Birdsall & the shock looked on.However the team couldn't hold on to half time as a player way offside was allowed to continue & finshed @ the 2nd attempt after a great save by Ratcliffe. The team then had to make a change just after half time,Ratcliffe coming on for the injured Maltby.Wetherby went ahead soon after when the wetherby striker once again got a 2nd chance after another good save by Ratcliffe.Next the team lost Reynolds to a nasty looking head injury, then home team were then reduced to Ten men.In the last 5mins another player offside was allowed to continue, with Ratcliffe upending Travena in the box;the same player dispatched the penalty.4-2 the final score

HELPERBY 0-7 BRAMHAM RES

The team won an easy game against an understrength side 7-0.Barnes opened the scoring after 4mins with a simple header, this was followed after 20mins with a great strike from Roberts.Easby then chipped the onrushing goalie 5mins later, then Hurrell rounded the goalie to make it 4-0 after 30mins.Just before half time tapped in for his 2nd & the teams 5th goal.Jacklyn then headed in from a corner after 5mins of the second half, then Ratcliffe with a free kick & 'slight' deflection completed the scoring after 60mins.Nicholls on debut looked good, his all round display just missing a goal

RIPON RED ARROWS 3-6 BRAMHAM RES

The team made the journey to ripon to play their first league match in nearly two months, and early doors it showed.Ripon won every battle on the field going & went 1-0 up early on,Tasker bravely levelling with a header after a great ball in from Roberts. The lead was short lived as Booker spilled a simple chance & then held the striker in the box,the penalty been dispatched with ease.Ater 30mins the team clicked & wot followed for the next half hour was one way total domination football.Birdsall bravely blocked a gk clearance & tapped in the rebound, then just before half time a great team move ended with Jacklyn putting in a great cross for Reynolds to slide the ball home.Half time. The start of the 2nd half saw a great long distance strike from R. Craven, followed by a delicate lob from Tasker. The teams final goal came from Reynolds, again a Jacklyn cross;this time after great skill in the corner by Roberts.A great run & cross by Maltby resulted in Hurrell putting the ball in the net,but the ref disallowed it.Craven missed two easy chances, then Ripon pulled a consalation goal back with a free header from 6yds out.A much changed team, but in a good 30min display either side of half time;next week in the cup will need more

BRAMHAM RES 3 - 2 THIRSK FALCONS A

After an even opening twenty mins RATCLIFFE opened the scoring with a thumping volley from the edge of the box.Thirsk drew level from the spot after a JACKLYN handball then took the lead after a great long range strike from their experienced midfielder.TASKER & the returning BOWDEN then missed a few chances so the score remained 2-1 @ halftime. The second half was complete one way traffic as the home side launched attack after attack. The Thirsk goalie pulled off a few good saves,TASKER + BOWDEN kept missing;but JACKLYN got a deserved equalizer after following up on a blocked shot. The winner came with around 25mins left.A free kick was awarded middway in the Thirsk half,MALTBY took the free kick straight away;& despite clipping the bar+post the ball ended up in the net.Lightning does strike twice(OTLEY 01/09/07)Led by the impressive PLOUGH + the tireless JONES more + more chances were created & missed. The last 5mins was tense but BRAMHAM got what they deserved today

OTLEY ROVERS RES 3 - 2 BRAMHAM RES

The team lost their grip on the spa cup with a very disappointing display @ otley. How can a team who played so well in their last match play so bad in the next? The same eleven players started the match & despite taking the lead after only two mins never settled into the match.Taskers cool lob finish was the perfect start to the match, but within ten mins the score was level when a ball in the box twice wasn't cleared & eventually the left winger buried the chance @ the 3rd attempt.Within 5 mins the lead was restored by Tasker who held off the challenge of the defender & slotted the ball past the keeper. The rest of the half was a scrappy affair with no chances @ either end.The second half was the same until Craven + M.Tasker left the ball for the otley centre forward to scuff his shot into the empty net.Worse was to follow ten mins later when the ball hit Devellys outstretched hand in the box.The penalty was scored with ease & today that was that.No fight or spirit was shown, hopefully this is just a one off

Bramham played pannal @ harlow hornets ground on saturday and probably turned in their best performance in recent years. After drawing @ home the week before thanks to a last minute equaliser, they knew what to expect of pannal;but no one expected this performance from Bramham. In the 1st minute Adam Tasker struck the bar with a thunderous strike & attack after attack followed during an outstanding opening 20mins.Rich Milner opened the scoring after 5mins following in a shot from Jimmy Hurrell which was to hot for the keeper to handle.10mins later Hurrell slipped Tasker through for number 2 & number 3 soon followed when after beating several players Hurrell set up Milner for a crisp finish. The rest of the half & the 1st 15mins of the 2nd half were more even & after a well worked goal from Pannal on the hour mark the acid test was to see hoo the team would respond? The answer utter domination.Straight from the kick off the team passed the ball around, sent Milner free down the wing who's cross was buried by Tasker.Tasker then completed his hatrick after more good work by Hurrell, the two players then combined to set up John Reynolds for a nice finish;then the scoring was complete when Nick Jacklyn followed up Reynolds shot & slotted home the rebound. All FOURTEEN players contributed but all though he didn't score Hurrell was outstanding with his all round play & many assists

BRAMHAM RES 2 V 2 PANNAL SPORTS A

MATCH REPORT

Bramham welcomed Pannal to freely lane with both teams needing a win after league defeats by westbrook ymca res.The pitch was in excellent condition, with tackles flying in all around during the 1st quarter, Reynolds been cautioned for a tackle that was a little late; while all the tackles that were more next week went unpunished! After around 20mins a free kick was awarded for Bramham out on the left wing,35yds from goal. Ted O?Donague lofted the ball high into the box where Colin Maltby,Nick Jaclyn & the Pannal centre half all rose to meet the ball, with the last touch possibly coming from the unfortunate Pannal player the ball clipped the far post & went in.OG?,try taking it away from TEDVEZ!However the lead was short lived as a free header from a Pannal corner was brilliantly saved by Mark Tasker in the Bramham goal, but the rebound was hammered away by Senior. The 1st half finished much as it started with plenty of bit, but not much goalmouth action. The 2nd half was much the same with a bit of needle creeping into the game, nothing over the top; just bubbling under the surface! This changed with around 15mins to go when the Pannal centre forward received two yellow cards in quick sucession.the 1st one because of a tangle with Drew Ratcliffe, who was also cautioned & then the 2nd for a late challenge on keeper Tasker. Now only playing against ten men Maltby was pushed up into a midfield role, but disaster struck when the Pannal right winger skipped past three tired challenges & unleashed a screamer of a shot into the roof of the net from the angle edge of the box, a goal worthy of winning any match. Luckily for Bramham it wasn?t a winner because this team is made of strong stuff, this team has HEART,PASSION & DESIRE. In added on time Adam Tasker won the flick on & despite been pulled back by the Pannal centre half,Maltby shrugged off the foul challenge & planted his header past the oncoming keeper. Not the best header you will ever see, but it was a brave header & it went in. Final score 2-2,a good game with these two teams meeting again one week later in the cup. The WHOLE team were excellent but special mention to ?THE PLOUGH?who had a major reason not to play, but made a special effort to play & who had an OUTSTANDING match

BRAMHAM RES 4 V 2 CATTERICK VILLAGE

MATCH REPORT

Bramham welcomed Catterick to freely lane with both teams boasting a 100% league record, something had to give. The match started very cagey with neither team looking like scoring. After around 15mins Adam Tasker opened the scoring after a cool finish. The lead was short lived as a Catterick defender skipped past some lazy challenges & his cross-cum shot deceived Mark Tasker in the Bramham goal & went in off the post. free header from a Pannal corner was brilliantly saved by Mark Tasker in the Bramham goal. The 1st half finished much as it started, neither keeper been troubled, with the only bit of action being Rich Craven seeing a bit of claret after a head injury . The 2nd half saw Nick Craven coming on to replace his brother & after a hour the 2nd change was made with John Reynolds coming on for Will Birdsall ,the changes inspiring the team forward. With 1st team captain Matty Dodswoth now running the show wave after wave of attacks were launched, with Tasker bagging his & bramhams 2nd goal after 75mins. 5 mins later it became 3-1 with Tasker completing his hat trick. Nick Jacklyn the replaced Chris Cannon with ten minutes to go. Into the last five minutes & Craven got his 2nd goal in 2 matches with a simple finish after a great team move. There was still time for Catterick to get another goal but in the end 4-2 was just about the fair result in the end. The strike partnership of Tasker & Jimmy Orrell up font looked very good, another good team display.

BRAMHAM RES 4 V 1 POOL A

MATCH REPORT

Bramham welcomed the real Pool A team to freely lane with both teams familiar with each other after playing each other the week before. The Pool team wasn?t as strong as the week before, where as Bramham were much strengthened. Bramham dominated the game from start to finish, Drew Ratcliffe opened the scoring after 10mins, dispatching his penalty with ease. After missing chance after chance Adam Tasker added the 2nd goal just before half time. Straight into the 2nd half & Tasker scored again with another cool finish. Pool scored a scrappy a goal, but the final goal was the goal of the game when a great team move resulted in Will Birdsall finishing the move off with a clinical finish. Adam Tasker was unplayable, well so said the one legged 50yr old Pool defender who was marking him!

POOL A 1 V 1 BRAMHAM RES

MATCH REPORT

Bramham Res dropped their 1st league point of the season after a strong POOL team equalised with five minutes left in a tight match. Only eleven players were available again so again the oldies ted + col were going to have to play 90mins!The scoring was opened half way through the 1st half when Will Birdsall charged down the goalies clearance & the ball richoeted into the net. With only having 11 players & POOL being strengthened by their 1st team not having a game, the team knew it was going to be hard. Adam Tasker was having one of those days where his control & approach play were world class, but his finishing was poor (that?s been kind!) . The weather was hot POOL brought on all three subs & an error from Jacklyn at right back led to the equaliser. A few more chances were spurned & it all ended 1-1. We don?t have to wait long to play the real POOL 3rd team as the return league game is the following week.

Bramham Res played their 1st league match of the season at otley and came away with a 3-0 win.The team was a mixture of youth & experience, only eleven players were available so the oldies ted + col were going to have to play 90mins!The scoring was opened half way through the 1st half when craven hit a low drive into the bottom corner,no more chances were converted and otley only had one chance the whole half when their striker outpaced tosh but dragged his shot onto the post. The start of the 2nd half was very
similar to the 1st,plenty of attacks but no real efforts on goal.On the hour mark a free kick was awarded just inside the otley half, what happened next will go down in bramham folklore!Col maltby took the free kick straight away, spotting the keeper a touch off his line;the ball sailing over the keeper & into the roof of the net.Did he mean it?only he knows but with the score now 2-0 the team relaxed & played some great attacking football, climaxing in a third goal for Simon Wright.A good start to the season well done to all who played

MATCH REPORT

Bramham Res 3-2 Thirsk Falcons A

Back to winning ways after a come from behind victory over a spirited Thirsk team.Thirsk probably shaded the first part of the game but a wonder volley on the edge of the box from Drew Ratcliffe opened the scoreing for the home team.Thirsk equalized from the penalty spot after a Nick Jacklyn handball & went ahead just before halftime after a long range drive from their experianced midfielder.Bramham then produced an attack minded second half display with Tasker & the returning Bowden missing chance after chance. Finally the equalizer came when Jacklyn made amends for his earlier error when he followed up a shot which the keeper could only parry.Bramham were the awarded a free kick middway inside the Thirsk box,up stepped Colin Maltby to take the free kick quickly. The ball going in off the crossbar + post just to prove his earlier goal @ otley was no fluke.More chances came & were either saved by the thirsk goalie or were missed.Don't think thirsk had one shot in the 2nd half but with only the one goal advantage the team were glad to hear the final whistle. The plough was outstanding in midfield again with the rest of the team playing well.
