The 2nds this week were missing many key players as they tried to continue there fine form in the league. Hudson got his first call up to the 1sts and Elliot, Jones, Lambert were missing with injuries and holiday duties.
This meant a real shuffle in the pack with last weeks winner Adam Tasker reverting back into goal and Drew moving upto centre half.

The game started very slow with Bramham trying to find there feet. The little nipper that played up top for thirsk was playing hell with Titch(who seemed to forget what time of day it was, after a heavy night) so he and booker switched places. Bramham now looked a bit more shored up and Titch seemed to liven up from his hangover. It was a close game at this point with much of the play being in the centre of the field. Booker then collected the ball from his fellow defender drew and played a through ball upto Nick Craven, who turned the defender with ease and then blasted the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

The match continued to be very doggy like with the back four putting in a sured performance with some good tackles and communication. As half time approached thirsk had one of there best chances of the game when the nipper nipped in with a un marked header from a corner. He hot his angles wrong and headed wide of Taskers goal as Bramham stood firm.

After a blasting at half time from the management Bramham came out for the 2nd half with a bit more bite and hunger. Rich Milner moved infield to play alongside the ever present Plough. They both contained the midfielders with some hard graft and tackling.

The ball then broke up field and nick craven after tireless work down the left broke into the penalty area where he was hacked down. PENALTY Bramham...Nick took the ball towards the spot and the re run of boroughbridge came back to haunt him, so he swiftly left it for Drew (Goalkeeper come centre half come penalty taker) He calmy put the ball down and slotted it straight down the middle of the goal with ease.

Bramham then took there foot of the gas and allowed Thirsk more time on the ball and tested Tasker with a few efforts that he was very sharp and equal to.

With 15 minutes left Thirsk were than given probably the most dubious penalty of the season. AS there striker tried to control the ball he managed to trip over his own feet and fall to the floor. Booker was bemused to see the penalty decision given and made his feelings clear with the referee. After much debate the player took the penalty which tasker saved superbly and then tipped the rebound around for a corner.

Dave Easby was then introduced into the game and battled hard and took a few knocks for the cause. Tom Barnes also came on for the battling Lyndsey Hume and looked such a neat player that he always talks about.

Bramham again kept another clean sheet after another battling performance. Well done lads lets keep this run going and climb the league.

C.Cannon,   N.Craven,

With the last two games falling victim to the weather Bramham turned in a display that looked as though they hadn't played together for two weeks!

The return of the Plough was a welcome boost but still missing Hudson (work) and long term injury victim Lambert, Bramham were far from full strength and it showed.

The free-flowing, excellent football of recent weeks appeared to have disappeared as Bramham were sluggish from the off.

In a first-half that was not for the spectator, neither side created any real chances with Ratcliffe beating the centre-forward to a 1-on-1 and Reynolds flashing a long-range strike wide. The only real thing of note was the strange decisions that were being punished when committed by one team and not when committed by the other for exactly the same thing.

Into the 2nd half and although Bramham raised their game slightly, it was still a drab affair and again, no real chances were created until the last 20 minutes, with the defences being on top.

Thirsk managed their only effort on target which Ratcliffe easily saved, diving to his right.

Into the last twenty minutes, up stepped the Mr. Hyde side of Tasker. Three relatively easy chances for a player of Taskers calibre were all dispatched to various parts of Freely Lane although none matched the effort of Booker which managed to go out for a throw-in.

5 minutes to go and Mr. Hyde turned into the good Dr. Jekyll. Tasker robbed the left back of the ball on the edge of the box. As he ran into the box the keeper came out. Tasker delicately lofted the ball over him into the net from a fairly tight angle for the winner. 1-0.

So, Thirsk were dumped out of the cup at the 1st hurdle and left Bramham by vowing to avenge this cup defeat by being victorious next Saturday with the promise of 1st and 2nd teamers alike waiting for us!

A poor performance but a win nonetheless. The sign of a good team is to play badly and still win. Lets keep up the winning run but improve the performance.

Sorry this is a short report, but if we play like we did, we don't give me much to write about!

T.Barnes,   N.Craven,

Bramham turned in yet another excellent display, although it was of a different nature to recent weeks.

After losing Hudson (family commitments) and their inspirational skipper the Plough (work), Bramham could have been forgiven for thinking that this wasn't going to be their day.

Fielding just 3 players over the age of 21, Bramham held their own against a more physical Catterick side. The excellent football of recent weeks had to be toned down slightly as the small pitch limited the ability to play football and it was going to be a day for battling to the end.

Bramham began to dominate the game slightly and in a first-half of few chances, forced the Catterick keeper into a couple of saves from long range shots. Good work down the left from Rich Craven and Milner resulted in Bramham being awarded a penalty after the centre-half handled Milner's cross. Up stepped Tasker after shooing Elliott away and promptly smashed the penalty straight at the keeper. The rebound came back to Tasker but he just failed to get over the ball and the rebound was put wide.

The 2nd half saw Catterick dominate play a little more and begin to push forward although they still were unable to create anything clear cut. Bramham soaked up the pressure well and midway through the half took the lead. An excellent through ball from Booker set Reynolds away and as the keeper came out, Reynolds beat him to the ball and placed his shot expertly into the far corner for 1-0.

Catterick began to push on and get a foothold in the game. Bramham were defending comfortably and Ratcliffe only had to make one save, pushing the ball round the post low to his right from a 20 yard shot.

Catterick threw the big men on and bombarded Bramham with high balls, a tactic which the back four comfortably dealt with until Milner lost the ball in his own half. The ball was lofted forward, flicked off the head of Maltby and the striker curled it round Ratcliffe for 1-1 with just 4 minutes left on the clock.

With extra-time looming and Catterick looking stronger, Bramham won a throw-in midway in the Catterick half. A long throw from Tasker was flicked on by Nick Craven into the Catterick box. The keeper came out and under pressure from Booker, the Catterick winger managed to drill the ball into the bottom corner of the goal for a nightmare own goal. 2-1 to Bramham with a minute to go!

That's how the game finished and although the winner may have been fortuitous, it was no less than this young side deserved for all the hard work put in, resillient defending against a big, physical team and creating the better chances in a match of few chances.

MOM – Rich Milner

Next week, home to Wetherby 'A'. 12.30 meet. Keep the performances and winning run going lads!

Ten minutes later Tasker picked up the ball, turned 2 players a let fly with a rasper. It clipped the post with the keeper rooted and went wide. Catterick could only manage long range efforts but should have gone in 1-0 up after insdecision between Elliott and Rich Craven saw the striker break free, round Ratcliffe but then inexplicably roll his shot 5 yards wide of an open goal.

Another excellent display which resulted in Bramham extending their excellent recent form to a 5th league win from the last 7 games.

With the 1st team game being postponed, Bramham resisted the temptation to load the team with 1st teamers and 13 of the 14 players were 2nd team regulars. Finally the performance yielded the goals that had been threatening to come in recent weeks.

Bramham again made all the running with this excellent young team playing some exciting football. As has been the case in recent weeks, Bramham flew out of the blocks and created chances right from the off.

Rich Craven fired over after just 5 minutes and 5 minutes later, the same player made the score 1-0. Strong play from Tasker down the right saw the ball reach Rich Craven at the far post and he stooped low to head Bramham into the lead.

On of many strange decisions saw Pool awarded a penalty for a "push" by Hudson which seemed to shock the Pool players more than anyone. Ratcliffe became the hero of the hour to dive to his left and save the penalty, pushing it round the post.

Again, surprisingly, Bramham went into the break just one goal to the good. Dodsworth replaced Booker for the start of the 2nd half.

A 2nd half which saw Bramham yet again unveil their party trick of scoring straight after the re-start. This time it was twice. Elliott lofted a ball forward on top of the keeper who palmed the ball up. Dodsworth jogged in and nodded the ball in. 2-0. 2 minutes later and it was 3-0. Tasker broke free down the left and found himself 1-on-1 with the keeper again. This time Tasker made no mistake in slotting the ball into the bottom left hand corner with a scuffed shot.

Pool rallied and created chances but nothing clear-cut until a hopeful shot from the centre midfielder was tipped onto the bar by Ratcliffe and the striker followed it up to head into the unguarded net.

The game became end-to-end again with Bramham still playing the better football. With 10 minutes to go, a long through ball from Dodsworth found Tasker just inside the Pool half. Tasker carried the ball forward and smashed the ball left-footed into the top left-hand corner from 25 yards 4-1.

5 minutes later Cannon made it 5-1. His shot managed to squirm under the keepers' grasp and over the line. Further chances to extend the scoreline came to no avail as Rich Craven, Reynolds & the Plough all spurned good opportunities.

MOM – Josh Jones

Next week we away at Catterick in the quarter-final of the Spa Cup. 11.45 meet. It's a long way and an early kick-off. Again, more of the same lads.

A fantastic display that had everything. Good football, excellent teamwork, resilient battling and a 4th league win in 6 games.

Bramham played excellently throughout the entire match as they brought Brafferton’s 8 game winning run to an abrupt halt.

The plough was his usual workmanlike self in the middle of the park and with Tasker holding the ball up well and Reynolds making some intelligent runs, it was no real surprise when Bramham took the lead midway through the 1st half.

Bramham continued to make chances and never looked under any threat from Brafferton who tried to hit on the break. Half-time came with the score still surprisingly 1-0.

Within a minute of the restart it was 2-0. Brafferton kicked off, rolled the ball back and under pressure from the Plough made a sloppy pass. Tasker was onto it in a flash to steal it off the centre-half and round the keeper, two defenders and rifle the ball in from 15 yards.

Brafferton rallied and Ratcliffe was forced to make an excellent save low down to his left but other than that had nothing to do until Brafferton scored a goal from nothing. The centre midfielder played the ball in behind Maltby who was wrong footed and the striker nipped in to score with a shot across Ratcliffe when 1-on-1. 2-1 to Bramham.

Brafferton were lifted by this and pushed forward although the defence, particularly Hudson, kept them well at bay. Booker was replaced by Milner which saw a shuffling of personnel. Tasker should have extended the lead twice when excellently put through by two through balls from Elliott but hit his first effort just wide from a first time shot and put the second in a similar place after controlling well on his chest.

Bramham were still looking dangerous and the introduction of Nick Craven for Nick Jacklyn paid immediate dividends as his run and pass set Reynolds clear who worked the ball across goal to Milner. Milner coolly rounded a couple of players before showing a finish beyond his young years as he calmly tucked the ball away for 3-1.

Football is a game of clichés. This game lending itself to the cliché “the best team doesn’t always win”.

Although  sluggish for the first 15 minutes, Bramham, were rarely put under any goal threat by Thorpe and should have opened the scoring when Reynolds was through on goal but as he tried to lift his shot over the keeper just outside the area, the keeper saved the ball with his hand. Not only were Bramham not awarded a free-kick, the keeper was allowed to stay on and this proved to be a turning point in the match.

Thorpe lofted yet another long ball forward and as Elliott was about to clear the ball, Lloyd came out and his scuffed kick went straight to the right winger who hit his shot first time into the net passed the despairing slide of Elliott for 1-0.

Bramham pushed forward and played some excellent football down both flanks with Milner showing some neat tricks and Rich Craven working hard. Reynolds found himself through on goal twice but good recovering tackles rescued the day for Thorpe.

Bramham started the 2nd half brightly and continued to attack via good football. Hudson was commanding at the back and Lloyd made two excellent saves from long range strikes.

The deciding factor came mid-way through the second half when an excellent cross was met by the head of Reynolds just 4 yards out but his header crashed off the bar and away to the boot of a defender.

Bramham continued to play good football both when attacking and defending and were only caught out by Thorpe’s only attacking ploy of a long ball. It has to be said that Bramham had committed men forward trying to grab the equaliser and were caught on the break to give the score a little more flattering and deceiving look.

Again, a good team performance with some excellent football played. The only problem was the one thing that has been apparent all season and that is the ability to convert the many chances we create. We can’t rely on Reynolds to get all the goals lads!

5 minutes later Pool managed to reduce the deficit to 2-1. One of many strange decisions led to Pool being awarded a free-kick near the corner flag. The ball was crossed in and a towering header at the far post gave Pool their 1st goal.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first. Bramham pushed forward, created numerous chances but failed to convert while Pool tried to hit on the counter. Lloyd made two excellent saves and stout defending from Hudson and Maltby kept Pool at bay.

On a lighter note, John Reynolds has had to surrender his miss of the season trophy he won last week. Current holder is Adam Tasker who rounded the Pool keeper and with an open goal at his mercy, not only rolled his shot wide, he even missed the side netting. Just to make certain the trophy was in the bag, Tasker then nodded wide unchallenged at the back post to take 1st and 2nd place.

A good team performance with some excellent football played. The Plough brought some steel back to the midfield that was lacking the previous week and Milner can consider himself very unlucky not to walk away with the MOM award.

With us finally having a home game and wanting to put the shambles of last week firmly behind us, the loss of Nick Jacklyn (1st team), Colin Maltby (unavailable/manicure), John Reynolds (unavailable) and Nick Lambert (injured), the odds looked against us against a Hampswhaite side that had won 3 and lost 3 but with some impressive reults.

Last week looked banished to the past as Bramham (FINALLY!) started from the kick-off instead of 20 minutes in. Bramham constantly pushed forward with Lindsay "the Plough" Hulme and Josh Jones at the start of almost every attacking move. Everybody was up for it this week and it showed. The back four looked impressively solid, the midfield supported both the defence and attack and Bowden linked up well upfront with Nick Craven. Jones had the beating of the left-back every time and was unlucky to see one shot rebound off the bar and another cleared of the line whilst Nick Craven was just two inches too short to get on the end of a dangerous Jones cross.

So was this going to be any easy win? NO! This is Bramham. For all their pressure, they failed to take any of the numerous chances they created and after 30 mins found themselves 1-0 following a powerful header from a corner. However, within 5 minutes Bramham were level. A foul in the centre circle on the Plough resulted in a free-kick. Elliott's lofted ball was flicked on by Bowden to Nick Craven who turned his man and laid the ball off to Cannon. Cannon smashed the ball hame to make it 1-1.

An inspiring half-time teamtalk saw Bramham come out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and go 2-1 up within a minute of the re-start. Hampswhaite kicked off, rolled the ball back and under pressure from Plough, gave the ball to Nick Craven. His excellent through ball found Bowden who coolly slotted home for 2-1.

Further Bramham pressure couldn't yield another goal and a diabolical miss from Nick Craven should have seen Bramham extend their lead and a rasping drive from the excellent Rich Craven flew just wide.

Hampswhaite began to press forward and create one or two half chances but never really threatened Maltby in the home goal although they could consider themselves unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after a rash challenge by Booker who just played enough of the ball to satisfy the ref.

With 5 minutes to go and Bramham comfortably defending their lead, Jones again broke away down the right and cut inside. He unleashed a fizzing drive the may or may not have been curling in the bottom corner. We'll never know as the centre-half headed the ball up and backwards and the ball looped under the bar. 3-1.

Oh and ugly bugly came on for the last 20 mins and touched the ball once. A towering header in the centre of the pitch.

An excellent team performance coupled with many great individual performances earnt a deserved win.

MOM - THE PLOUGH

Next week we are away at Pateley Bridge. We need to build on this performance and result and push on from here. 12.30 meet. It's a right trek!

A shocking first half performance from Bramham cost them the points here

On a surface that was barely playable, too many players were either not at the races or just didn’t fancy the conditions. As a result, Bramham found themselves 1-0 inside 5 minutes. With everybody asleep, a ball in behind Rich Craven saw the Styans right winger break free. He squared the ball to the far post and the striker smashed it in via the upright for 1-0.

A torrential downpour which really should have seen the game abandoned due to the goalmouth being underwater, offered Bramham the chance to start again. This they did in exactly the same fashion. BADLY! 5 more minutes and 2-0 down although this goal owed a lot to the  conditions as well as bad defending. A through ball to the Styans midfielder (who appeared so far off-side, he could have been mistaken as playing sweeper for Bramham!) saw him 1-on-1 with Elliott. He chipped the onrushing keeper and it looked to be sailing over the bar. No such luck. It stopped in the wind and dipped under the bar.

Bramham rallied and got a goal back. An excellent through ball from the Plough found Josh Jones, after good work, he found Lambert who’s excellent cross reached Nick Craven at the far post. His shot was parried and the rebound was stabbed home by John Reynolds. 2-1.

Bramham then switched off again and two more  goals were scored.

The 2nd half was a completely different story. Bramham spent almost the entire half camped in the Styans penalty box but a lack of a real cutting edge failed to recover the deficit although a good finish from Booker brought it back to 4-2.

Following last week's result against the same opposition, complacency was the main worry for Bramham as the loss of Tosh Maltby, Lindsay "the Plough" Hulme and Chris Cannon were balanced out by the return of Rich "Tich" Craven, Rich Milner and "Big Dave" Easby.

The game followed a similar pattern to the previous weeks game. Otley started sharply and Bramham were sluggish out of the blocks and only a smart save by Booker from a free-kick kept the scores level. This was the wake up call Bramham needed and the back four tightened up and with the midfield pressing well, Otley were reduced to long range efforts on the break.

Big Dave and Nick "Lambertini" were at the heart of every attacking move while Ross Baker tidied up well in the holding role vacated by the missing plough. It came as no surprise when Bramham took the lead after 20 mins. It was also no surprise that it was the boot of Lambertini that created the goal. A foul on Brett Hudson resulted in a free-kick. An excellent delivery from Lambertini and an equally excellent run by John "JR" Reynolds to move 3 defenders created space for Nick Craven to tuck the ball high into the roof of the net at the back post.

Bramham continued to create chances but failed to capitalise and finished the half just one goal to the good.

The 2nd half continued in much the same way as the 1st. Easby skinning the left back, getting hacked down and Bramham missing chances. The main culprit being Elliott who missed a penalty and then had to go off injured to be replaced by James "club ugly bugly" Develley. Easby was replaced by Milner who earnt the left back a deserved 2nd yellow. 1 for hacking down Easby, 1 for hacking down Rich.

Some fantastic goalkeeping from Shadrach Dingle kept the score at 1-0 and an especially fantastic save from Nick "Chucky" Jacklyn's 30 yard screamer had the game looking like a one - niller. A routine back pass was swung at and missed by Shadrach under pressure from JR who ran on to the missed kick and tapped into an empty net for 2-0.

Capitulation was on the cards and 3-0 soon followed. Great work down the right from Josh "JJ" Jones and Rich Milner led to the ball ending up at JR's feet and he drilled the ball into the far corner of the net. An excellent defensive display from Brett kept chances to a minimum and following good work from Titch, Lambertini played an inch perfect chip in behind the back four. Shadrach came charging out but was beaten to the ball by JR who lofted it over him into the unguarded net to complete his hat-trick. 4-0.

An excellent team performance with some great individual displays especially considering there were no less than 6 regulars missing.

After the encouraging result and performance of last week, the need to maintain the form was a must. Although on paper the opposition would appear to be much weaker than the previous game, the loss of 4 key players didn't help the cause. Joe Farthing was called up to the 1sts and Colin Maltby, Paul Bowden and Richard Craven were both unavailable. This led to a shuffling of the pack. Ben Booker returned to play in goal, Chris Elliott moved to centre half and both Chris Cannon and Nick Craven came into the team.

In the opening few minutes this re-arranging appeared to have a negative effect on the team as Bramham were slow out of the blocks and Otley managed a couple of shots but only one forced Booker into a save. This woke Bramham up and they began to take control of the game with Lindsay (The Plough) Hulme and Nick Lambert taking control in the centre of midfield and Chris Cannon having his best game for the 2nds on the right.

Within 5 minutes, John Reynolds had latched onto a through ball and dispatched the ball into the far corner of the net to put Bramham 1-0 up. Just 10 minutes later after some good work from the midfield, Rerynolds had his and Bramham's second. He raced onto another through ball, turned smartly on the edge of the box and rifled the ball home again. Minutes later Nick Jacklyn contrived to sky the ball over the bar from 6 yards out to let Otley off the hook!

With the defence looking solid and allowing the midfield to push on, it was no surprise Bramham extended their lead in the 25th minute. Following a corner on the left, a poor clearance fell to Cannon on the edge of the box. He drove into the box and smashed a shot across goal which took a deflection on it's way in. 3-0.

Seven minutes later 3-0 became 4-0. Good work down the left from Jacklin was followed up by a dangerous cross and Lambert arrived late in typical fashion and smashed the ball home. Then three minutes befor half-time Reynolds completed his hat-trick by yet again outpacing the defender to race onto a through ball, round the keeper and roll the ball into an empty net.

Bramham didn't want half-time to come with the way they were playing in particular Nick Craven peeling wide giving the left back a torrid time and the back four restricting Otley to long distance shots on the break.

The second half was in complete contrast to the first. Bramham seemed to be content to sit back on their 5 goal lead and just attack on the break with right back Josh Jones pushing forward to good effect. Midway through the 2nd half Lambert was replaced by Ross Baker who showed some intelligent touches but the highlight of the 2nd half had to be the introduction of club "ugly bugly" James Develley. Develley's contribution consisted of an unchallenged flick on, straight out for a throw! Solid defending restricted Booker to just one save in the 2nd half which he easily tipped round the post to enable Bramham to keep their first clean sheet of the season.

A good team performance, particularly in the 1st half which sees us progress into the next round of the Spa Cup.

Next week sees us return to Otley and league action. Lets hope we can continue our good performances and results and climb the league table.

  Brafferton Rangers 1 Bramham 1

Team
             C Elliott, J Jones, C Maltby, B Hudson , R Craven, N Lambert, J Farthing, L Hulme, N Jacklyn, P Bowden, J Reynolds. Subs C Cannon, D Easby, R Milner, R Baker.

After the embarrassment of the Addingham defeat it was felt that if the team was to move forward the first issue that needed addressing was the choice of goalkeeper, consequently
Chris elliott was drafted in to replace Kev Upton the question was did the rest of the team have the hunger and desire to match the ambition of this forward thinking club.

Straight from the kick off Bramham showed their intention with wave after wave of good quality high tempo attacking football matched by some resolute defending by the home team, who themselves showed their willingness to attack at every opportunity they were given.

Nick Lambert and Nick Jacklyn proved to be a constant thorn in the Brafferton defences side with their incisive running and willingness to work hard for the team.
Up front the hard running  John Reynolds who was ably assisted by the clever work produced by paul bowden who as ever was always looking to receive the ball and  bring team mates into play at every opportunity.

Therefore it was no surprise when on 35 mins all four combined to conjure up the opening goal for Bramham which was coolly finished off by Nick Lambert with a left foot strike into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance.

Solid work from Lindsay ( The Plough ) Hulme and the talented Joe Farthing in the centre of midfield allowed the two wide men to push on at will, and with an assured back four  lead by the unflappable Colin Maltby the 1st half finished  1 - 0 to a deserving Bramham.

Football as someone once said is a game of two halves the second of which bramham couldn't have started any worse as almost virtually straight from the kick off Brafferton broke down the right hand side and aided by indecision by Richard Craven & Nick Jacklyn the Brafferton right winger was allowed to enter the Bramham box and smash a shot across despairing dive of Chris Elliott.

The stage was set for a battle now with the home side turning the screw at every opportunity but Bramham refused to wilt and counter attacked Brafferton at every opportunity, this really was a game that each side could be forgiven for thinking they did enough to  win and was an excellent advert for both clubs and possibly with a little bit of luck Bramham would have won it in the end if the ball would have fell right for the two front men who never stopped working and on another day could have finished up with a brace apiece.

In the end the game finished up 1 - 1 with neither side deserving to lose and after the Addingham debacle Bramham can hold their heads up once again.

RESULT.   Bramham Res 0 - Pateley Bridge Res 1.

Saturdays game really was a case of after the lord mayors show and a bitter disappointment to the management and hopefully the players to.
The preparation was right things that needed to be discussed were discussed every player was aware of what was expected of them ,but it just did not happen on the pitch.

Bramham took the lead in the 1st half only for the referee to hallucinate and witness a non existent push by Paul Bowden who had steered his header wide of the Pateley keeper .

Half time 0-0 and yes the disallowed goal was the only thing worth mentioning in dull 1st half.

Against the run of play Pateley went in front after a cross from the left was allowed to pass past defenders and our keeper for a 3 yard tap in.
Rob Lockhart was sent off for a challenge which did not merit even a yellow card but apparently the look in his eye according to the referee did (memo to players close your eyes when challenging for the ball).

Richard Craven was the man of the match in a real non event.

All players have been given chances to impress & in the next few weeks availability permitting the selections will be based on a tried and tested format called picking your best team, so all players have been warned you have a couple of weeks to win your spot in the team.

CATTERICK 2 BRAMHAM RES 3

After 4 winless games the 2nd team had finally got their senior players available to give the young bucks of Bramham a bit of steel and experience.
No excuses today as youth ,pace, experience ,craft and guile was there for all to see and right from the start you could see todays team was a winnig one.

Wave after wave of Bramham attacks as Bramham laid siege on the Catterick goal with Catterick looking dangerous on the counter attack.

Eventually the inevitable happened and after a fine build up Richard Milner calmly controlled a crossfield ball and guided it into the path of the grateful Paul Bowden who swept the ball past the despairing dive of the Catterick keeper.

Bramham were off and running and would surely go on to stretch their lead even further, not on your life these boys like to do it the hard way and within 2 minutes Catterick were level due to some slooppy defending.
Bramham continued to press to regain their lead but had to settle for going in at half time on level terms.

After a Churchillian team talk Bramham took to the field for the 2nd half and immediately went on the attack, eventually the pressure told on the catterick back four as their keeper got himself confused with Jens Lehman and punched young Milner giving away a penalty and getting himself sent off.
The imperious Colin Maultby stepped up and smashed the penalty home to give Bramham a deserved lead .

Bramham continued to attack at every opportunity with Joe Farthing and team captain Linsey Hulme driving their team forward.
Inexplicably Bramham failed to deal with an up and under allowing the ball to bounce several times before a catterick player nipped in to score his and cattericks second and level the score at 2-2.

Heads had dropped slightly and inspiration was needed so the management descided to replace the hard working but by now knackered Richard Milner with the latest player of the Jacklyn conveyorbelt ,the question was could young Nick step out of his dads shadow .
Left foot right foot this kid isnt bothered and brilliantly executed a sublime winner from 20 yards out.

Not much happened in this game unless you count a free for all in the middle of the park and a sending off for an outfield player from each team,  with Paul Bowden allegedly being sent off for allowing 3 Catterick players to kick 7 bells out of him.

The hard working John Carrier was Bramhams man of the match in a  terrific team performance which showed that this young Bramham team stiill have a bit to learn in the art of protecting a lead but do possess an awful lot of talent and will only only get better.

BRAMHAM RES 1 HAROLD STYANS 4.

Another day another dollar sorry i mean defeat. After a promising first half where Bramham had 60% of the play but alas without relly threatening , both teams went in still in the game with the score at 0-0.After starting brightly Bramham were 2-0 down conceding goals in the 55th and 57th minutes. With 6 minutes to go new signing John Carrier deservedly got Bramham back into the game stooping to head the ball home.Unfortunately a young Bramham failed to capitalise and conceded 2 more goals to give a rather unjust scoreline of 1-4.
Once again young Bramham have come away empty handed in a game where they deserved some reward,a lack of experience & guile has once again caused
our downfall.Good performances from Josh Jones, Richard Craven,M.O.M. Joe Farthing, John Carrier and a great 30 mins by the much protected and highly thought of DAVID EASBY.Once we get Our senior players back this side will go from strength to strength and eventually fulfill the promise they show

A half-time roasting seemed to have done the trick as 10 minutes in, Bramham pulled one back. The ball came to Reynolds on the corner of the box, who smartly brought it down and drilled a low shot into the net. 2-1.

Shocking defending let Red Arrows score their 3rd goal with their 3rd shot of the match. Defending too deep and not playing to the whistle let the striker break-away on the counter-attack and make it 3-1 very much against the run of play.

 MOM – Rich Craven

Bramham continued to press forward and create numerous chances all of which either lacked a finish or were saved. Hudson had a header cleared off the line, Maltby headed over from 5 yards out and Ratcliffe’s drive was just wide.

After the postponement of last week’s game, would we be able to keep the momentum and secure a 4th win in 5 games? With Hulme (working) and Elliott, Lambert and Bowden (injured) all unavailable, it was going to be difficult.

The first half was a fantastic advert for how not to play football by Bramham. The midfield was non-existent and the defence looked all at sea. So it came as no surprise when Red Arrows opened the scoring after 10 minutes with their first effort on goal. The midfielder ran from deep, wasn’t tracked and slotted the ball past Lloyd on his debut in the home goal.

Following last week’s disappointing result, Bramham welcomed back the Plough and Adam Tasker who came down from the first team. With Elliott, Lambert and Bowden (injured) all still unavailable and Pool quite high up the table, these were welcome additions.

The first half was a fantastic advert for how to play football by Bramham this week!!!! The midfield was excellent and the defence a lot more assured than last week. Bramham pushed forward right from the off. Excellent football, right from the back enabled Bramham to create lots of chances but again it looked like the scoring touch was still on holiday with Tasker rattling the bar with a 25 yard volley and Nick Craven heading over when unchallenged 6 yards out.

However, after 20 minutes a great ball from the Plough set Rich Milner galloping down the left. He cut inside and crossed, the ball was headed out but only as far as Tasker who smashed the ball into the roof of the net on the half-volley from 15 yards to make it 1-0.

10 minutes later Bramham were 2-0 up. Excellent work in the midfield from Jones, Reynolds and the Plough got the ball to Tasker. His incisive pass set Milner away down the wing who delivered an inch perfect cross for the massive (5 foot 3) Nick Craven to despatch a brave bullet-header past the keeper.

The move was started by Jones and when the ball was expertly slid through to Tasker, he timed his run to perfection to beat the off-side trap, round the keeper and stroke the ball into the net for 1-0.

The game opened up a bit and became a little bit more end-to-end with both teams creating chances although Pool didn't create any clear-cut chances whereas Bramham were yet again guilty of missing what can only be described as sitters! Tasker doing his best to keep miss of the season trophy by hitting the keeper twice when clean through 1-on-1. Reynolds also followed suit.
