Environmental Day 1, 10th September 2005

We held our first environmental day, the cadets were absolute stars clearing through the litter in the open space. We had plenty of little helpers who worked extremely hard too! The BTCV came along and built us the first boardwalk by the pond.

  

Environmental Day 2, 30th April 2006

Even more popular than the first day, we had more people than we thought possible come along to the second environmental day. The fire service came out and let children climb all over them, Wild flower seeds were sown, faces painted, burgers eaten and lots of rubbish disposed of. Once again the cadets and BTCV were out in force to help us, along with the township, Streetscene and  of course the residents.

 

Play Days

We have held three play days with the Play 'in Out team who have been fantastic. The fire service have also attended, and thakfully only one has been a washout so far!

 

Springwatch 21st March 2007

We had a fantastic afternoon with more than 50 children taking part in pond dipping and treasure hunts. We found hundreds of bugs, all of which were released back into the open space to carry on doing what bugs do!

 

Environmental Day, 21st April

Lots of residents, councillors, Streetscene, Leigh Air Cadets, BTCV, Fire service and many more turned up to have a great day and clean up the open space. Particular attention was payed to the area behind Whinchat Close this time. Many thanks to all who came along, and to Northern Harvest for their generous donation.
