Open Show 2011
27 March 2011

The BHCS held its AGM on the morning of 27th March 2011 followed by their Open Show.   This year there was a change of venue to Blackford in Perthshire as the Victoria Halls in Selkirk have priced themselves out of our affordability for our Open Show.   We did lose some entries from the south because of the change, but gained a few from further north.   There was an entry of 43 for Tom H Johnston (Feldkirk).   Unfortunately, we suffered many absentee bitches, all of whom had come in season.   We are assuming that the awful winter weather has had an influence on bitches coming in season out of kilter, and it was rather a pity that it had to happen just when the Show came along.   A short break was taken for a lovely afternoon tea and as it was a beautiful day some of the exhibitors made the most of a stunning walk around the adjacent highland games park, overlooked by the snow covered Ochil and Perthshire hills.

Our steward for the day, Sheana Martin of the very famous Shered Schnauzers joined the walkers with her Champion dog – 15 years young and fit as a fiddle.   Even with the reduced entry, Tom enjoyed his day and found his Best in Show and Best Bitch Resident in Scotland in Pat Feetham’s Kimbleholme Just a Dream out of Open Bitch.   Reserve Best in Show out of Limit Bitch was Billy and Louise Cairns’ Murrinstaad April Sunshine.

Best Dog Resident in Scotland was Mr & Mrs McKenzie’s Andershill Nemesis and Best Puppy was Jim Wilson’s Limgoning Kerry.   The Best Veteran was Anne McIntosh’s bitch Faburn Lomond at Kelansue ShCM
