An increased entry of quality hounds awaited our Judge, breed specialist Mrs Cathy Whitehead of the Ardenmill Bassets, who was awarding CC’s for the first time.   She found her BCC and BOB in Ch. Switherland Double Image owned by the partnership of Freer, Rodgers & Armstrong.   The Reserve BCC went to Murrinstaad April Sunshine owned by Billy Cairns & Susan Murchie from Ayrshire.   Best Puppy Bitch was the Ellrich’s Malrich Fergie.   The Dog CC & Reserve Best in Show was awarded to Kelsey’s Malacante Bay of Silence JW, his third, so congratulations to a new Champion in the breed.   The Reserve Dog CC was awarded to Ellrich’s Malrich Sir Ruff Diamond. The Best Puppy Dog and also Best Puppy in Show went to Sandra & Tommy Johnston’s Burnvale Mighty Quinn.

It was encouraging to see a number of new basset owners at the show as well as the more familiar “old” faces.   A very happy atmosphere prevailed all day and this included a visit from the Field Officer!   We returned to a cold buffet for Lunch this year and managed to hold our prices down.    Again, many thanks are due to Jim Wilson and David Johnston for providing this service ably assisted by the many committee members.

What is not generally realised is that a number of local residents and visitors to the area also come along to the show as it is advertised by the local council and mentioned on the local radio and TV programmes.   They all commented that they thoroughly enjoyed their visit and refreshments and are looking forward to coming along to our next show.
