Project Aims and Background to the Project
Basically the project aims are to links Special Schools in Jamaica with Special Schools in Birmingham:
to get to know one another and share common interests / challenges
to develop joint curriuculum projects with the students involved in whatever way they can
to share professional practice and ideas
to enable staff to exchange (and possibly students as well)
to explore support from the British Council Connnecting Classrooms programme
The Birmingham / Jamaica Special Schools Project is part of "Widening Horizons" which is an approach developed by UK based charity "Jamaica 2000" (J2K) working with the Jamaican Ministry of Education. J2K was set up by Liz Millman and colleagues in 1999, and works with support from Liz's Community Interest Company "Learning Links International CIC" which looks at wider issues and links between educational providers in other countries.
