Bartholomew’s Poem……..
“How I Learned to Write Poetry at The Lake
I'm very proud to announce that a new poem of mine has just been published at The Lake. My thanks to John Murphy for accepting my work.
How I Learned to Write Poetry starts like this:
Little boy in a yellow rain coat
and galoshes squatting in the gutter
watches the rain become a river.
Hope you'll give it a read.”

My response to Bart’s poem was….
“There’s the past, the future
and the current.”
Going with the flow…..
I used to spend hours doing exactly that – damming a stream in the woods near where I lived – blocking, unblocking, making little bridges with stones. Just me an’ m’dog.”

‘Twin Peaks’….
Another ‘Breaking Wave’ music reference…
”Knoxy that lovely Twin Peaks guitar.”
This is it…..

A suitably portentous theme tune for a very disturbing television series which referenced many forms of strange human behaviour/psyche….

I watched it then, but wouldn’t watch it again. Why watch that, when there’s so much that’s disturbing in real life?

From The John Rae Society…..
A note from our president, Mr Andrew Appleby:
”To those who attended our wonderful talks in person, and those who attended online, I give a wholehearted thank you for experiencing Dr Rosalind Rawnsley’s talks on John Rae and her ancestor, Sir John Franklin.
This was an historic occasion where a Franklin family member has spoke publicly and equally of them. I am personally thrilled by this, so let us keep the momentum going.
With all good wishes, Andrew Appleby
President of The John Rae Society
