Advent Jolliness….
We got an Advent Calendar from Dogs Trust….
…..and, this morning, opened the first door…
Behind each door is a doggie treat – which we give to our neighbour-dogs.
Meanwhile – each day, Jo Bourne presents a new scenario in her window-advent calendar. The neighbour kids must love it…. ‘What’s in Jo’s window today?’

It’s all being neighbourly.

Found a backpack by the side of the road,
just a little worn. Upon unzipping
I discovered it was full of gratitude—
for family and friends, flowers and food,
all the usual mementos one finds in a backpack.
But digging deeper between the crumbs and pebbles
I found a tiny bit for spiders in high corners,
a sharp flake for wisteria dragging down trees,
a damp clump for ankle tattoos of hummingbirds.
I slung the backpack over my shoulder,
after ditching the souvenirs and trinkets,
thinking I could be thankful for what remains.
