So I asked about it…
“What's the Ness Time Capsule?”
“….purchase £2 postcard, write, and leave and it will go in proper container that will be buried in Ness and be covered over!”
“Thanks Jeanne - v. good idea!”
It is a good idea – a very good idea….

I’ve decided what I’m going to write…
‘Tread softly because you tread on my dreams’ – W.B. Yeats.
The Ness has featured in my dreams…here are a couple of examples….

From ‘Unbound’….
“A key principle guiding my life as a publisher is that there some things that only a book can do.
Life & Death in Gaza by Ahmed Alnaouq is the perfect example of that and I’m proud and to bring it to your attention.
On 22 October 2023, at five in the morning, an Israeli bomb fell on Ahmed’s father’s house in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and wiped out twenty-one members of his immediate family.
Ten years earlier, a similar attack had killed his brother and inspired him to found We Are Not Numbers (WANN), a non-profit project which enables young Palestinians to tell their own stories. Its mission was to create a new generation of Palestinian writers and thinkers, committed to peace and human rights, whose stories would resonate around the world.
Faced with this new crisis, he decided he needed not only to tell his own story, but also to talk to other people who had suffered similar unthinkable losses.
The result is Life & Death in Gaza – fifteen stories that are full of life, celebration and defiance. It brings together people who have faced the worst but who refuse to be seen as victims.
We will be donating our profits to We Are Not Numbers and hope the book will provide a way for people to both learn more about the richness and resilience of Gazan culture and to offer support in a non-partisan, peaceful way.
These are the stories that don’t make it through the noise and statistics which dominate media coverage. They are full of the nuance and detail that only books can offer and Ahmed needs time and money to do them justice.
Your support now will make sure he has both. With your help we hope to publish in the first half of 2025.
